I am an 18 year old who had the misfortune to grow up in the 90's which was around the same time that horrible pokeman shit came out. My father introduced me to his 12 inch Joes (he grew up with the Joes in the 60's rather then the 80's like most of the people on this site) and I loved it from the get go. In the early 2000s that spy-troops and valor vs. venom line came out (which was the first time I was introduced to the 33/4 Joes) and thats when I became the hardcore joe fanatic I am today. I remeber those kids back at elementry picking on me because I didnt fall for that stupid crap like pokeman or whatever was popular at the time (F#$%ing @$$holes!).
I show my little cousins g.i.joe figs and they so far think they are pretty cool and would most likely fall in love with it if only their mom would let me show them the old 80's cartoon and let them get some figures. She is on of those moms who don't want thier kids seeing anything violent, which I have nothing against but there comes a time when kids need to learn that there is good and evil in the world and that the world is just not one big amusement park and need to be tought moral values (which is what g.i.joe teaches am I right?). Lucky for me I have a loving father who has tought me moral values and passed on to me what he loved as a kid which has inspired me to be a patriot and know the difference between right and wrong (and that sometimes you need to kick some ass here and there). As for kids these days i think they don't even care about g.i.joe. But during my time in Joecon this year I was happy to see that there are kids that still love it which gives me hope. Note: I did all of this while taking a break on any serious figure collecting. After those special years with my group of friends, I went back into collecting toys. Great memories. Toys are toys. As long as someone is there to enjoy the treasure, then they have served their purpose. |

My nephews (obviously nieces wouldn't know) had no clue, then I told them of course after a big score on the way to their house. They ask about them but have zero interest in buying or playing with them. It's all X Box and their new baseball card hobby. At least I'm passing the info to them. Thanks to me they are fans of the band RUSH though so that's cool!

My daughter is turning 5 soon and she knows all about Joes. Mainly because her father is obsessed with them, but she still likes putting Strawberry Shortcake and Scooby Doo figures in my Night Raven and HissTanks to play with.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be a recurring situation. Most of our kids got the bug from us. When you think about it, it isn't a surprise. Most kids don't really know how to play anymore. I mean, there are advertisements on TV trying to teach them how to go outside. If it isn't a video game or tv way too many aren't interested.
