So...who do you think is the most important character in the ARAH (GIJOE versus COBRA) mythologies?
Who drives this short bus 'round the HISS Tank forums? I voted for COBRA Commander. ARAH is nothing without COBRA. He is the puppetmaster pulling everyone else's strings. He is by far the most influential character in terms of how his actions have affected everyone and everything. The Joes are honestly a bland lot even when not compared to their COBRA counterparts. Marvel proved Duke is expendable. Sunbow proved Snake Eyes is expendable as he got bitchslapped into unconsciousness by a Cobra-La Royal Guard. COBRA Commander's shadow still loomed over all the characters in Marvel during the time he was believed to be dead.

Agreed. Without CC, the Joes would not be what they are. SE might have stayed in Japan to finish studying under the Hard Master if it weren't for CC. The Joes killed in the Marvel run might still be alive. In fact, there might not be a Joe team without CC. Every good hero needs a villain.

Oops.
I apparently legitimately forgot to include him. This is truly an honest mistake. I didn't do it on purpose! I swear it! But... ...it is somewhat indicative of what I meant 'bout the GIJOE blandness that I forgot the character that is, arguably, the most important Joe. I guess "Other" will get his votes...like beyond-the-wall zombies in "Game of Thrones".

I went with Cobra Commander as well.
Without him, the Joes wouldn't have anything to do. |

uh... ARAH didnt actually need Cobra Commander. Read the original canon books. He went missing for YEARS.. and there were other bad guys in the comic. Its the cartoon that needed him.
I voted for Snake Eyes. I think anyone who read the entire comic line would have to agree....

I voted 'other' because I honestly couldn't point to a single character and say 'Most Important!'-- it's a balance, not just between Cobra and the Joes, but between the players of either side. And with different continuities making different 'Most Important' contender characters 'expendable', it just reinforces my opinion that it's about the teams. Not that I don't have my favourites, and not that I don't think some characters are legitimately more important than others in the grand scheme of things, but I couldn't just point to one.
Still, interesting to see the conversation that develops, and which characters are getting votes.
