anyone have any tips on removing the glue after removing the decals. im replacing the decals on my skystriker. the old glue is being a pain in the arse. i have tried simple green and rubbing alcohol. the simple green removed a lot of the glue and all of the 24 years of dirt and grime. any help would be great

I prefer "Bestine." It can be a pain to find, but is usually in art stores. Evaporates super quick and does the job effectively. Use something like a Q-tip to apply and soak the area for a few seconds before peeling off or removing glue. Just make sure that what you want to come off is wet with the solvent and don't be afraid if a bit more then what you want gets on it, it'll evaporate and leave nothing behind. Wipe the area clean WITH the Bestine on a rag or paper towel as well, in the final stage. A lot of people will recommend Goo-Gone which is alright IMO, but not as good as Bestine. I find Goo-Gone too oily and leaves a slight residue.

Thats funny your removing decals from a skystriker cuz i just did the same a couple days ago. Lot of glue residue leftover. I used "Goo gone". Stuff works like a charm. Makes the jet look nice and clean when ur done. I have 6 more skystrikers to do so i'm gonna need some more Goo gone.
Also, "Goo gone" leaves a citrus smell after use but the smell dissipates after little time. Or u can wipe it down with a wet towel afterwards. |

I've just remove decals from my Skystriker a few days ago with Googone. Work great but after used Googone, i needed to wash the plane with water and soap for remove the oil residue.
The result is great and now my Skystriker is realy bright white. |

since yall gave me a tip ill give yall one, if you have any stress marks in the plastic you can use a heat gun to remove them. i was using it on my rattler to fix a warped tail section and all of a sudden the white stress mark disapeared. like it was never there. i had it on low and about 4 inches away. i have fixed several of my vintage vehicals that way now, just be careful not to get the plastic to hot
