Welcome to my crossover thread. Here, you will meet up with GIJoe, Cobra and Stargate characters to form my little story universe.
Please read the prior parts if bored. And leave a comment before you leave. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ial-viper.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-part-2-a.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-part-2-a.html http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...4-wilhelm.html Part 5 Cobra-cide The highly decorated and secret Stargate Containment Team (abbreviated C.T.) raced through the Antarctic underground base known as BASIAR. Their heavy deployment packs tossed back and forth on their backs as they traveled through the maze to reach one of the lower levels to secure the Stargate from the Cobra intruders. Scarlett’s hair fell out of her bun as they rolled out of the last elevator, rifles up and zeroed in on each sector. They halted to the herd of personnel heading away from the gunfire and attempting to leave. “Out of the way everybody! Make a hole!” Scarlett announced to the BASAIR personnel as they crowded and shoved their way through the corridor. “We need to get through!” Staff were crowding together in the skinny corridors and many of them coughing and choking. “Push through!” Dr Zelenka yelled out. “Wait.” Scarlett said. She grabbed the arm of a passing Airman. “What’s the situation?” He looked dazed and his other hand was around his throat. Tears poured from his eyes. “They’re obviously choking on something.” Gears said. “I can see that.” Scarlett replied. “Ma’am…we can..no…reathe.” The Airman barely made out. “Scarlett, I’m reading drops in oxygen. It might be base-wide.” “Roger that. Check your gas masks.” She turned back to the coughing Airman. “Get these people to the sub. It has its own air supply.” The airman took a strong breath of empty air and forced himself to gather more strength. “You copy that? You’re in charge of their safety. GO!” He led them down the corridor. “That was smart, Scarlett, but we have to focus on reestablishing this base to operational status.” Rya’c said. “I know we’re short on time. But a Sit-Rep is nice to start an op with. Looks like we may not get a good sitrep from most of the personnel here. Let’s pick up the pace.” Dr. Zelenka spoke up, “The Control Room’s this way.” “Lead the way, Doctor.” “I’m on it.” “Team, do not stop for anyone but for a Joe or the Colonel. That gate is active and we’re short on time.” “Yo Joe.” She said. All at once the Containment Team cried out, “Yo Joe!!!” C.T. closed in on the Control Room and noticed more personnel on the floor throughout the corridors, passed out. Their footsteps silenced and without a word, the team stacked up on the door with team-lead, Scarlett up as operator 1 with Rya’c, Gears and Zelenka in tow. Scarlett made a sign with her hand for the door to be bypassed electronically. Zelenka stepped up and began the process. The team waited with their weapons up and providing security for all sectors including the door itself. Patient and tactical. A sound echoed at the door. A thump through the walls. And a familiar voice, “Chevron Six locked” over the intercoms. She threw her hand out pushing Zelenka back in the rear. Rya’c handed a det charge to Scarlett. The Containment Team’s default entry technique is the “4 Man Imidiat Threat.” (That’s how it is really spelled) Usually, the lead operator enters and decides which side of the room he will go by the immediate threat on his side. The second operator takes the opposite side of the room and so on. If there is no threat on an operator’s side, he will run the length of the wall until the corner. This technique is fast and even faster when the lead operator decides on the threat quickly and moves there instantly. That’s what Scarlett is for: everything. “Imidiat Threat” compresses the enemy and is just what the C.T. might need. Once planted, the charge quickly went off. Before the blast cloud was over, the team was already breaching the Control Room. Scarlett leaped through the smoke and debris, charged the front Glacial Viper. Headshot! Rya’c took the right of the door, gunning down a stunned Glacial Viper. Number 3, Gears, flanked the inner-left of the door. Nothing. With good reaction, he charged his side and focus-fired on last targets. Zelenka was tailing Rya’c on clearing right. The last two Glacial Vipers were stunned but still firing. The first went down after multiple hits from Scarlett. She sprinted forward, leapt and kicked him, making him fall on the last Viper. Once fallen, he tried to raise his rifle at her but Rya’c left three rounds in his arm. Glass dropped his weapon and tried for a grenade with his southpaw, left hand. Glass exclaimed, “COBR-!!!” but was caught off guard as Gears struck him from behind, knocking Glass out before he could pull the pin. “CLEAR!” Scarlett reported. They paused, weapon’s relaxed. She detained Glass, the lead Glacial Viper, and pushed him to a corner. Rya’c stoically reported, “Two, clear.” “Three, clear here.” Gears announced. Zelenka was muffled under his gas mask. “Room Clear.” Scarlett announced. “Dr. Zelee, I can’t hear you.” Gears said sarcastically. “To je magor.” Zelenka yelled in his natural tongue. “What was that?” Gears said, confronting the Doctor. He stood in front of Zelenka, a hand taller. “You really think a soldier like you scares me? I’ve died multiple times, flyboy.’” Gears gritted his teeth “If you were a little taller-.” “Get back to work! We’re short on time.” Scarlett ordered. The two grunted in unison and left the conversation. “Scarlett, come here!” Rya’c got to a knee and checked a soldier’s vitals. “Isn’t he a Joe. We should stop for him.” It was Mainframe on the floor next to the head console, bleeding out. “It is him, for sure. Gears, Do what you can.” Gears and Dr. Zelenka went to work. “On it.” Gears reported. Zelenka exclaimed as he found his way to the console and began examining the status of the Control Room. “Scarlett, the gate just opened!” “What?! Who’s down there-” “-Vipers running through the gate.” Rya’c yelled out. Gears announced, “Ma’am, I can control the bleeding but he’s messed up. He took a round in the leg and another through the chest.” “Gears, you are out of time!” Scarlett yelled. Almost as if she was telling herself that she was out of time. The world may be out of time. A fellow Joe was dying next to her, the oxygen of the base was down. All of that while the enemy fled through their gate to God knows- Scarlett heard the door slide open. Rya’c was already down the flight of stairs for the gate, throwing off his gas mask. He charged for the blue haze of the portal. His rifle aimed straight, ready to kill. The last Glacial Viper left through the Stargate as it went down, vaporizing the event horizon in front of him. Rya’c was stopped and looked up into the Control Room, disappointed. “Dammit.” He exclaimed. She became enraged but no one felt it. She kept her cool. Aim like Artemis. She pasued only for a moment and gathered her constitution. “Dr., check the address. Get it right. We are following them through. Right now.” “But Scarlett, we’re containing this gate. That’s our job. This gate.” “Zelenka, we are. Gears, get Mainframe stabilized and then stabilize the Gate Room personnel. I want survivors. I’ll lock this room down.” She took a breath. “GO.” Zelenka knew where to look. He scanned the computers and found the correct database quickly. It’s not like he hasn’t commanded from a gate room before. “Scarlett, I have the address.” “Good, Dr. Now log it into the nav and let’s redial immediately.” "Wait, we're going after them?" She glided to a different console and found the environmental controls. "Yes. We are. We have to go soon." After a few buttons, the oxygen began filtering in. She took off her gas mask and took a solid breath. “Aahh, finally. Fresh air!” Her eyes were finally available for others to see. A soldier in the Gate Room, tired and with little strength, lifted his head only to see her. The beautiful sight she is was too much. They locked eyes for a moment just before he passed out again. Her eyes were pulled away as Zelenka approached her again. “Good job, Scarlett.” Zelenka sighed, “But we have a problem.” *Can I have one good moment not spoiled?* “Spill it, goggles.” She followed him to a console. “We are dialing to LETO. You know the coilgun station up th-” “I know.” “That’s where they’re headed. Bad news, Scarlett.” “And we can’t let them have it. But wait. Did I miss something? That gate is within our planetary orbit. It’s impossible to dial because it would be like dialing our own phone number that someone else also has. Impossible.” “It’s not. See, the ‘phone’ numbers that we have are separate on the planetary axis. Opposite sides. We can dial but only for a certain and short periods of time. I’ll stop there. I won’t have time to explain this. Shepard would have stopped me earlier.” “Hmm. Great job, Zelenka.” She paced to the door. “I’d like to hear how this works later.” “Scarlett, I have Mainframe patched up for now.” Gears reported. “Thanks. Help Rya’c with the gate team below.” “On it, ma’am.” Rya’c reported in again on the comm channel. “Scarlett, I have the Colonel. He’s waking up now.” “Good, Rya’c. Lead him up.” She crouched down to Mainframe and touched his shoulder. His eyes opened slowly. “Hello Scarlett.” He said, coughing. “What are you- What are you doing here?” “We’re here to rescue you.” “I see…you got a promotion.” He said and coughed up an ounce of blood. She leaned him up against the wall so he could speak and breathe properly. “Take a breath and tell me what happened.” “I don't know hold long I was out. Firefly and some special snakes…they went through to LETO… Bomb.” “Bomb?” He coughed again. “Yeah…bomb in the barracks. I hope it’s diffused.” “No. Nothing has blown. Shit.” She exclaimed. Scarlett jumped up and reached for the PA system. “Attention BASAIR personnel, this is Sergeant O’hara of the Stargate Containment Team. There is an explosive in the base barracks. Evacuate immediately! Repeat. Evacuate the ba-” The explosion rocked the base. The blast wave shook Scarlett and the team to the floor. The floor and the walls rumbled immensely, throwing chairs and debris across the corridors. Hanging lights popped and fell to the ground as fuses blew and electronics sparked. The dust settled and the base stopped shaking. The room was still loud; everything seemed deafened. She opened her eyes to blackness. For a moment, everything was chaotic in her head but the world was still. *Not my first explosion.* The lights came back on only to show a huge figure, Rya’c, in her face, attempting to revive her. He pulled her up and she took a step to regain her footing. “Thanks Rya’c. Team-” she coughed over the comms, “-report.” They each checked in. Zelenka mumbled something under his breath, “I should have stayed with the Atlantis Expedition.” “Glad you guys are alright.” She went back to Mainframe. “Are you still here, Mainframe?” “Barely.” “Well that’s something.” “Scarlett… Yo… joe.” “Yo joe. Hang in there.” Scarlett went back to the base PA, “Attention base personnel. Security and medical teams to the Gate Room on level 14 and to the barracks on level 4. The base oxygen is restored. With each other, we can restore this base to operational status. Do your jobs to the best of your ability for your fellow personnel and for Earth. Repeat. Security teams and medical teams to the level 14 Gate Room and to the level 4 barracks. We will get through this. The ENEMY will pay…O’hara, out.” The PA clicked off and Zelenka was standing behind her. “Interesting speech, I believe. Sam was right about you.” Her eyebrow showed confusion. “It’s a compliment.” “Ready, Zelenka?” “I’ll stay here and contain this gate. Most personnel here do not know what’s going on. The blast, im sure, tore a hole in the facility. We’re lucky.” “Okay. Wait two minutes and then begin the sequence.” “SYOTOS.” “SYOTOS.” The Colonel walked in, holding his head. Where are you going Scarlett?” “Sir.” She saluted. “My team is embarking to follow the vipers to LETO. Cobra can’t take that station.” “No they can’t. But I need you here to contain this base. That’s your job. And secondly, it’s probably a trap.” “We’ll find out, sir. And I did contain this base, poorly. But I have to make this right. Are you going to stop me or go with me?” He paused. Colonel Mitchell knew what it meant for an SGC team to do their job, for he was once the team leader of SG1 only a couple years earlier. “Scarlett. You were trained by Sam. You're strong. I heard the PA announcement. I'll continue command. Go. Do what you have to do-” She began to leave. He chased after her and stopped her. “-but you’re getting backup.” Zelenka activated the Stargate and the rings found the first chevron. A figure walked up the steps to the Control Room and Scarlett and Mitchell both turned in unison. The soldier’s face was covered by his signature balaclava. It was dirty, but obvious. “I got your back, sweet-pea.” “Oh, Beachhead.” She said, “You never know when to stop, do you.” “No, I don’t. That’s why they chose me.” “They? Beach, I chose you.” “Did you, now?” Mitchell spoke up, “You two be good. And hurry back.” “Sure!” they said in unison. “Kids these days.” Mitchell muttered. “Colonel Mitchell, the last chevron is activating now.” Zelenka yelled out. “Good, Zelenka. Once the gate deactivates, I want a base sit rep.” “Yes,sir.” In the gate room, Scarlett checked her gear. She donned her mask again. I hate these things. She suctioned it to her face and yanked the straps back to a tight position. After a few breaths, the fog in her goggles faded and it was clear. *When I’m alone in my gas mask, noting else can bother me. I feel right.* She picked up her gear. She could hear herself breathe deeply. Within the mask, she can hear her pulse pump silently as well. *Guess I’m ready.* Rya’c and Gears stood up from the recovering men. Gears reported in, “Scarlett, these men were only knocked out with zat guns. They’ll be fine.” “Good deal. We’re retaking LETO. Cobra will pay!” The team nodded. “Do a weapons check.” A medical team and security finally breached and secured the Gate Room. “Get these men out of here and secure the Gate Room for the away team.” The team leader replied, “Yes, ma’am.” Light consumed the room for an instant. The Stargate was activated. The blue gate vortex launched forward, swirling many dancing blue lights around the Gate Room. It fell back to the horizon, dissipated and steadied as a flourishing puddle. There was no time for play time. It was go-time. “Scarlett,” Beachhead said, “My team will follow and you’ll need backup. I have Dee-Jay and Barricade at the ready.” “You have masks?” “Affirmative.” An airman ran in with SG26’s weapons that were piled up outside the blast door and handed them out to the team. “Thanks, guys.” Beachhead grabbed his MP5k and handgun. “Joes, let’s move out.” Scarlett yelled. “Scarlett, we’ll take lead.” Beachhead demanded. “Beachhead. No. Just cover us.” “Barricade is a breaching specialist and Dee-Jay has the ’60. We’ll clear the station’s gate room while you stop whatever Cobra is up to.” Dr. Zelenka spoke up. “They will most likely try to use the station’s controls immediately.” “Then we know where to go.” Gears said. “Ok team, when we enter the gate, stay on my heel. Watch for friendlies but above all else, we need to contain that Room.” “Yo Joe.” “Yo Joe.” “Yo Joe.” “Beach,” She signaled for a flash grenade and smoke grenade. Beachhead and Barricade threw them into the gate. “We roll in 3, 2, 1…” The two teams embarked through the Stargate, charging two by two and it closed behind them. Mitchell stood at the viewing window wishing he was there leading the way. But I have work to do. Good luck kids. Go chase these snakes. “Get back to work. We got men down!” He ordered to a soldier. The two gate teams had stepped through the portal. Because the station had a close orbit to Earth, the gate jump was very quick. The Stargate’s colorful teleport-tunnel was short-lived and the world opened again. Their footsteps exited and hit the floor. GO-TIME. __________________________________________________ ______________________ In the meantime, a Tomahawk helicopter landed on a flightline on a Russian base. G.I.Joe members were extremely welcome in some parts, even to conduct exercises alongside the Russian military. The side door opened. “Thanks for the lift, pilot.” “Anytime Sarge.” “What did your regiment call you while in Iraq?” “They called me Lift-Ticket.” “Keep the codename and contact Wild Bill. Report the codeword: valentine. Welcome to the team. Await further orders.” “Roger! Standing by, Duke.” Duke, the commander of the G.I. Joe force, handed his headset to the door gunner. He grabbed his rifle and walked onto the pad. His helmet was tight, his chest rig was packed full, with a bandoleer over his shoulder. Old-fashioned...semi-old-fashioned. He was used to the helo swirl and calmly walked across the windy pad. A serviceman met him out of the rotor radius. "You have a call!” “Okay, Breaker! It’s very loud here! Who is it?” “I’ll patch you through. There’s been a situation with our team.” “Is this line secure?” “As always! Duke readies to take the call, and shakes his head at Breaker as if to say, 'this won’t be good'. He takes a breath and put the corded headset up to his ear. It suctions and the roar of the Tomahawk deafens. “Duke here.” “Duke, it’s nice to meet you. Say the number two if you understand who this is.” “Two.” “Good. Let’s just say that my Command is not the only one listening into my communications.” “Sir?” “I know. I’ll get to the point.” Duke and Breaker share looks. “Son. That redhead you know is in trouble and I’m limited on my resources. The first team needs backup. They don’t know exactly what they’re running into. Do you have time to, maybe-” “Yes. I want to- I mean, I’ll mount with a QRF.” Duke began running with the corded headset, forgetting that it’s attached to Breaker. Breaker was pulled with him, stumbling behind. “Coming Duke!” He was huffing and puffing. “Slow down! You know we're linked together here!” Duke looked back to notice Breaker for a moment, and then went back. “Right, keeping the pace, Duke.” Breaker signaled to their Joe colleagues to meet up with Duke. They stopped what they were doing and ran over. The man on the radio kept chatting with Duke. “Good, son. Umm, we’re on the way to you.” “Wait, what?” Duke was literally stepping up a ladder onto a Russian Sukhoi Su-47 with Russian airmen attempting to get him off. Though their noise was deafened by the headset, he could see Breaker keeping them back, showing off his ID card. "We're GIJoe!!! See- G. I. Joe." “Are you there…kiddo?” “Yes I am. But sir, I assume you’re in the states. That would take a while. I have a Sukhoi right here.” “I know. We can see you." "What? Sir?" The X303 appeared over the hill at 500ft, kicking up snow from the hill. It steadied a hover over the base. The engines hummed loud and the ground roared. The base personnel, staying low, were astonished, never before seeing a space craft. Except a few, namely, the Joes. They stood tall. "I have Breaker, Roadblock, Ripcord and Daina here." "I know who they are." "Permission to all come aboard, sir?" "Permission granted." Thank you for reading. <(^_^)>
