Hi folks, I'm new to the board.
I'm an industrial designer specializing in play equipment for parks, museums and tons of other stuff. lately i've been drawing some gijoe classics for fun, usually with my own touches. Sky HAWK. i've done a more accurate 1st gen version as well. this one corrects the center of balance issues by moving the engines forward and out to both sides. also moves the vertical stabilizers in to avoid jet wash. rear section is lengthened to help balance weight distribution. chin cannons replaced with gatlin, missles replaced with 2 rocket pods and a set of larger rack mounted missles on far side. makes this a great first responder defensive fighter, mainly for air-to-surface fighting. Rolling thunder,
I took some liberties with this one, basic structure is pretty close, but the gun stations, main turret and rockets were sourced from available 3d models. Last edited by Nogamusprime; 04-14-2011 at 01:16 PM.. |

The Cobra Stinger is one of my all time favorites. It's also a vehicle that would be (relatively) easy to build a functioning full scale version (i'm thinking jeep cherokee chasis). My brother who also is an Industrial Designer and has good sources for some composite materials and I have been tossing the idea back and forth and we may tackle this once we get our financials in order on some other stuff.
The idea here is that as part of Cobra's financial schemes, they've begun producing the stinger for the civilian market under an umbrella corp (could be MARS) to be sold to the general public as a low-cost, easy to maintain 4WD sport utility, somewhere between a jeep wrangler and an xterra. having full production line capability, then these vehicles would be fitted with whatever gear needed for various Cobra applications. The original night attack jeep, an urban assault jeep (alley vipers) and a crimson gaurd version for use as motorcade support which would be built for street use only. I've also built the 4door version for additional roles. It's not clear whether the original design was intended to be front or rear engined, being based off of some hybrid between the lambo cheetah and the LM002, it could be either, but the blueprint claims a 500+hp v12. i've opted for a forward-midengined v8 for all around performance, cost and maintainance.
