Between starting too late and trying to get this finished with how much work I've had lately I wasn't sure it was gonna make the deadline, but then I kept thinking about how badly I wanted to win that Sea Slug art, and it lit a fire under me to finish. :-)
So basically the idea is that if this was used as a pack-in catalog the image with Duke and the Joes would be the front cover (which is why it's on the right) and the back cover would be the Cobra side. Then as a little bonus if you flattened the catalog, the two images would line up creating the result you see here. Tons of reference went in to trying to match up details from the toys like camo patterns and weapons, while also staying true to Hasbro's designs like trying to make Duke's face look as it does on his card art but still retaining the figure's appearance (no face paint, wider bandana, shaved head, etc.) Anyway...it's finally done!!! Hope you guys like it. |

Here is my entry.
I was waiting for an excuse to try and learn to use Corel Painter and this was it. It would have gone a lot faster if I didn't have to go trial & error on every single thing i did. Would have also helped a lot if it didn't crash as much. Ugh. Anyway, I wanted to try something different to what I figured everyone would be submitting. I am not quite satisfied but I was testing new grounds. At least I learned a lot doing this. Had I had more time I would have tweaked this endlessly. Be sure to check the fullsize version so you can see all the texture detail. Small: Full: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/9697/poc016.jpg |

Hmmm... My image doesn't show up unless I click the "Discuss" button.
Here's a link to the image on my site. Maybe that'll work better. |
