Every Joe #197: Outback

1987 is one of those magic years for Joe collectors, and is often viewed as the final batch of goodness before the great downhill slide began. It featured beloved characters, like Lt. Falcon, Tunnel Rat, Jinx, and Outback.

As good as Outback was, I always found the stark white t-shirt out of place. I semi-customized my Outback with a scrap of material as a shawl to downplay the t-shirt, and added it to this art piece as well.

Very good!!! The first time I have a critique on your drawings, but that's only because Outback is one of my favorite 1987 Joes. So my only criticism is the Survival on his shirt is too light. If it was darker(like black), it would have been a total win!

Awesome!! I love all of them so far but OutBack is such a favorite that this might be in the top 10!! ;)

That's a valid and appreciated criticism. This one has some issues, which are easier to see after the art sits a while (it's been in the can for a year and a half). Next time I have a similar print-on-fabric, I'll lower the "texture" level I place over it and see if that tracks better to the eye.

I had to scale up the hands, and the hips are much too small.

Thanks. As just mentioned, it's not flawless, but I'm glad you like it. I might have to eventually overhaul this one and fix up the proportions and lettering on the shirt a bit and see if I can't get it better.
