Every Joe #168: Skull Buster
Unlike most head-to-toe repaint figures, 2001's Skull Buster makes sense. He's based on an army-builder figure (the Range Viper), and is the leader of the Range Vipers. I tossed out Hasbro's color scheme for Skull Buster, going for something more suitable for a madman who thrives in the woods. Although I added some gear like the tattered shawl, this design will get a flip-and-recolor as Range Viper down the road. Last edited by Clockwise; 01-23-2022 at 09:22 PM.. |

This looks great!
Did you ever read the IDW comic when Skullbuster appeared? You could adopt his redesign from that. Tall, overly built, stark raving mad from living in the woods for a few years alone, completely nude and without gear except for the skull faceplate. He was scary.

No, I gave up on Devil's Due before GI Joe slid over to IDW. I've tried IDW a few times, but always get the "you can't go home" feeling when I do.
I'd heard of that characterization of Skullbuster, though, and it was something that influenced the design for my custom figure years ago. It wasn't naked, but everything on it was dirty and frayed. |

Really cool redesign for him to match your vision! Looks badass with the cloak and pike, then that helmet! Haha, so cool! The shine on his bullets give him that something extra to really bring it all home as well. Love it!
