Palitoy invented the Red Shadows by using German Soldier bodies with new heads. If there's one group of army builder bad guys that surpass the Cobra Soldier/Officer, it might be the Red Shadows. The full body Red Shadows is based on the Palitoy design, with some influences from my custom RS figures.
The background design is the updated look that Devil's Due gave the RS when it brought them into the then-cannon GI Joe world. I like it. The 1970's "let's use pantyhose to hide our faces" trick works pretty well. Make the panty hose a more opaque red and you've got it. Devil's Due was really hit or miss overall, but the RS design is solid. Joecustoms member Kwinn_82 sees this as an upgraded version of the Red Shadows, the "Red Shadows Elite", and that's a good way to justify keeping the design afloat. The old RS are still around, but the RSE are the cream of the crop. Last edited by Clockwise; 01-15-2022 at 10:49 PM.. |

Been thinking about Red Shadows a lot recently with all the new stuff coming so really cool to see you drop some art. That original Red Shadow is some of your best work. He looks badass, imposing and like someone you do not want to mess with.....exactly how I imagine them! Fantastic job! Helmet is spot on, uniform is so cool and then the white lines and added shine really make the entire package pop. Such an awesome job on this one.
Then I didn?t know about that other style! Always introducing me to new stuff, another reason I always enjoy your threads. Really cool redesign and love that you took it as an excuse to switch up the straps a bit too so he?s totally different. Line work on the straps and gun are perfect on him. Then the mask is so badass! I?ll be wanting to add one in this style to my custom group now, another typical result of visiting your threads! Haha.

Thanks.
It would be great to see some faithful customs of the Devil's Due uniforms, especially the masks. |
