First GI JOE entry in the new thread! I wasn’t planning on getting any Classified figures since I’m really happy with what we’ve gotten and what I’ve made in 1/18th scale but my buddy really wanted this Cobra Commander so I threw in a preorder for it just in case it was sold out before he was able to grab one. Because he was able to get one and I did like this Cobra Commander as something a little different and one who would I thought would be more difficult to make a custom of, I decided to bust him open and see how much I enjoyed Joe in the larger scale.
Ultimately I’m pretty happy with him. The red on the boots bothers me a bit but really love the detailing on the chest, the gold face mask / sculpted chain and the heavier material cape. Plus the figure feels a lot more solid than some of my Marvel Legends or Star Wars 6” guys which I’m always worried about in the larger scale. Right now this is planned as a centerpiece thing more than part of a 6” Joe collection but looking forward to getting a little dio set up for him on a shelf. Supreme Snake Cobra Commander GI JOE Classified 6” Since I don’t have any other Joe’s in 6”, Cobra Commander unfortunately had to go against Captain America. He has a little help but it goes about as well as you’d expect.

Haha, thanks! Originally I was trying to figure out a way for Cobra Commander to win but it just wasn’t believable. Plus I haven’t really taken official pics of Cap yet, just some generic posed ones on my shelf so he wasn’t losing his initial outing.
And same, Cap was always my favorite growing up. Had a buddy who would kill me for it because he always argued that Hulk was better so I got a ton of satisfaction with how the MCU played out. I always loved Hulk too but come on, no one is cooler than Cap!

My wife surprised me on Easter with some Master of the Universe retro figures so couldn’t help taking some pics after busting those open.
The first one she got me was Mer-Man who was always my favorite character from the line. If I still have our childhood Mer-Man sitting around somewhere, he’s definitely in bad shape so I love having a nice clean one with his armor & sword. Really liking these guys with the added articulation and more solid leg build. They stand so much better than the originals so it definitely helps me appreciate them more on the shelf. All of our originals are like marionettes at this point with their wobbly legs. Mer-Man Masters of the Universe Retro Collection She also got me one that I didn’t ask for but who I ALWAYS wanted as a kid growing up. I thought Zodac had one of the coolest designs ever so it bothered me that we had almost everyone from the early run of the line but somehow missed Zodac. Having him in hand, definitely did not disappoint. Great figure and his weapon is awesome. Another that the added articulation really improves lookswise. Not sure what’s up with all the sculpted back hair though. Zodac Masters of the Universe Retro Collection Then the third in today’s shoot is one of our childhood figures. Just stumbled across our old Orko just in time to pair him with my new group of figures. Always loved Orko and was dead set on getting a new one until I found this guy and his hat in the bottom of an old box. Orko Masters of the Universe vintage And what’s the point of new toys if you’re not gonna play with them a bit:

I was so tempted by the Origins line but I've held strong. I'll stick with the few MOTU classics I have and then the 4 inch customs. They do look awesome though. I may break and buy the new Castle Grayskull though for the customs.

Yeah, with you knocking out all the customs, I don’t blame you for passing on this line unless you have a few favorites. If you do have some favorites, not bad buys because they are really nice quality.
For MOTU, I was only planning on displaying our childhood stuff and then picking up figures of He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra, Hordak, Mer-Man and the Sorceress because the first four I consider essentials for any MOTU display and the latter two are my favorites. These are easier for me to display than random Transformers or Marvel guys though so they are good impulse buy gifts for my wife to get me. After seeing how the Zica Sectaurs look with Snake Mountain, the vintage collection Grayskull would look amazing with your MOTU customs! Just scales so much better with 3.75” stuff than it does the original figures. I’ve been talking myself out of getting a new Grayskull.

Fantastic action scenes of these Master of the Universe retro figures! They're brand new toys so I totally agree with you, play time was expected at some point.
Huge fan of the original playsets and figures and but never got into collecting any modern/retro figures. I must say though Orko and Mer-Man here look super cool! |

Thanks! These figures were really fun to bust out of the packages and set up for my shots. Always a good time when I get to check out some of the lesser used effects and stuff like the dinosaurs.
We had most of the early run of the vintage figures growing up but I tried to keep myself from going all in on revisiting the original figures or buying too many of the updated lines. Mostly stuck to my favorites until I started being gifted some of these retro collection guys. Really fun to have though, need to clean up my originals and get them all together.

Just got my Eagle Force stuff so since going through that stalled my customs again, figured I’d get some pics since I’m excited to have something new.
First up are some Larry Hama pics that I took when I first received that figure. They got posted in the Larry Hama thread but figured I’d get them in here as well since I uploaded them. Really love this figure, so cool to have a figure of Larry after all these years and he is still in my office crew of toys who are on my desk while I work. Larry Hama Fresh Monkey

Working through the Eagle Force box, the first two that I had in hand as a pair that screamed photos after looking at the figures and reading their bio’s were Kayo and Hornet. Just a really cool pair of figures and the history between them described on the cards made them really appealing to me.
First up is Kayo, just so cool to now have young Larry who is also a ninja / martial artist to throw into the action. Really like the design of his uniform and love the metal chain on his nunchucks. Kayo Eagle Force Returns Fresh Monkey Then Hornet who might have the coolest look of anyone in the Eagle Force Returns set. Such a cool design and then the logos on him are so awesome. Hornet Eagle Force Returns Fresh Monkey Once I had the two of these opened and standing on my desk, I just couldn’t resist getting them together for a fight:
