Stalker looks great. Helix and 'Wrench too, but Stalker looks as menacing and approachable as he should.

Thank you very much!
I made this post last year, hope it gives you an insight! After nailing the gesture down, I just add the details or decide whether to be more loose or bit tighter with the sketch. For me, a loose sketch has more energy and a tighter pencil has clearer detail but becomes more static and kills the fun for me. I do all my sketches during breaks, I draw comics/manga for a living. And sometimes, the time I have decides whether I only have enough time for a loose sketch.

Man I love your style. It's very expressive and the perspective and foreshortening is on point.

So looking at that, it looks like your workflow is all digital, but looking at, say, the Helix drawing, it looks like you were using pencils where there's some shading/smudging. Do you work in both mediums, or is the pencil shading digital as well (as in the brushes or techniques you use)? If you're using pencils, do you then scan and transition to digital or just work with pens over the pencils? I get your conception of the gesture and then the progressive tightening. I'm fascinated by artists' workflow and tools. Anyway, great work.

In traditional, I just make around 1"x1.5" thumbnail studies of the gesture of what I want to draw and I can do them in minutes. Like this: After scanning that, I blow it up to around 5"x7", print it out in 30% of whatever color: cyan, magenta or green. Then I sketch on that and put more detail as guides to when I do a tighter sketch: Next, I scan it again, remove all the colors, change to grayscale, do levels, blow it up to legal size, flip the image then print in black. I print it black and just use a lightbox to trace the final pencils. I don't print in color and just sketch over the colors like on step 2. Because colors has the same value as light pencil strokes and removing those colors, I also loose light pencil strokes I want to keep. Yes, I work in traditional and digital. I do all my linework traditionally and color in both. Quote:
Haha, yes. I use a clutch pencil (HB) on paper, then scan and levels.
