Anyone else going to submit artwork for the 2009 Comic-Con souvenir book? This is the first year it is full color. GI Joe is not one of the themes, but 25 years of ninja turtles and usagi yojimbo are among them. Here is a size/composition study I did tonight on scrap paper. When I do the final I think I will do it larger like 11x14 or something... scan it in and color it using the fugly colors they used back in the 80s for comic book covers. It's based on a GI Joe cover + I thought it would be cool to work in Joes 'cause it's just past their 25th anniversary. Any professional artists have suggestions on tackling something like this?
Deadline and other themes here... Comic-Con 2009 :: Souvenir Book Inspired by a classic Joe Cover.... First Study - Letter Size scrap paper - Pencil/Sharpie/Micron Pen Second Study - 14x17 - Pencil... practiced drawing turtles a little... still need to work on Joes... just place holders. Just started a figure drawing class once a week. Hopefully in a few weeks my anatomy will be more spot on. Last edited by Torrance Joe; 02-24-2009 at 12:42 PM.. |

For those that do plan on attending, maybe we can get extra souvenir books for those who submitted but couldn't attend. I doubt it's hard to get extra books.

I know it's your practice drawing. I'm not one to talk I don't draw very well but maybe lower the eyes and make the helmet a little bigger?

The A's were Henderson's first and favorite team, so much so that he returned three times and wanted to return a fourth so he could retire in green and gold.
