Here's part one of a short three part Dio I'm working on. Let me know what you think.
USS Flagg, Indian Ocean, near the horn of Africa. General Hawk briefs a group of Joes. “Reports of Cobra’s involvement in pirating activities in this area have been confirmed by both informants and images from Global Hawk UAVs”. “Cobra’s involvement in pirating activities all over the world dates back to the 1980’s. They started aiding pirates in this region about ten years ago, but have recently become directly involved in pirating operations. Cobra has seized control of eleven merchant vessels in the last eight months”. Hawk states. “They often hold the crew and merchandise for a ransom, demanding payments of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Their last demand was for one million dollars. I believe they received seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars from the ship’s company. Other times they keep the merchandise and sell it on the black market. The crews and vessels have never been seen or heard from again. With that kind of revenue being generated, we can expect Cobra to continue these operations until somebody stops them. That somebody, is us!” Hawk walks over to a wide screen monitor, “We haven’t been able to locate Cobra’s base of operations. Satellites have been tracking boat wakes, but haven’t been able to find any promising intel. Satellites thermal cameras have found a few hot spots in these rock formations, but we can’t confirm if they are natural or caused by manmade structures within the rocks. We sent in a Global Hawk to take a closer look, and got this FLIR (Forward Looking Infra Red) image of what could be a cobra base in a rock formation near this small bay”. “Our mission is simple, we need intel on this location. Divers are going to be deployed to give us eyes on intel. The divers will be Torpedo and Wetsuit, with the call sign, Bluefish two “. Hawk points to a map on the monitor, “The swimmers will be transported by helo to the insertion point here. They will swim five clicks to the opening of the bay, then proceed into the bay to the target location. Once there, gather all the intel they can, then exfill back out the mouth of the bay and to the extraction point here” pointing to the map again. You will be exfilled by a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). Cutter and Shipwreck will operate the RIB for the extract, call sign will be, Minnow four. Lift Ticket and Wild Bill will pilot the Blackhawk, and Airborne will man the aircraft’s guns, call sign, Flash five. Command and control will have the call sign, Helmet six. Time on the target will be no more than one hour. We launch at 0100 hours. Good luck gentleman.” Torpedo and Wetsuit don their equipment including all black wetsuits, MK 16 rebreathers, radio, M4 rifles, and night vision surveillance equipment. After going through their equipment check, they head to the flight deck. On the flight deck there is a MH-60K Blackhawk with the rotors already turning. As the divers climb onboard the Blackhawk, the crew is doing its radio check. The two divers do one last equipment check and then put on headset from the helo so they can communicate with the pilots and crew. Torpedo and Wetsuit then do their radio checks, first with the helo crew, then with their field radio. With all checks complete, the Blackhawk lifts off the flight deck right at 0100 hours. As the helo pulls away from the aircraft carrier and heads toward the shoreline, Wild Bill comes over the radio, “ETA is about 20 minutes”. Torpedo and Wetsuit insert the magazines, and run the charging handles on their M4s to load their weapons. They turn on their night vision goggles and wait to insert. Over the radio Wild Bill says “We’re five clicks from the coast, black out the aircraft, and arm the mini-guns.” “Roger that” comes the reply from Lift Ticket, “All lights are off, and guns are armed”. “Two minutes out.” comes over the radio. The two divers remove the helo’s headsets, and wait for Airborne to give them the signal to insert. “Approaching the LZ, standby to insert the team” says Lift Ticket. “We’re at the LZ, insert the team”. With that, Airborne gives the divers the signal to insert. The two divers jump from the hovering helo about twelve feet into the water, they then both turn and face the helicopter to give the signal that they have inserted safely. “Divers away,” reports Airborne to the pilots. Torpedo and Wetsuit swim with the current to the opening of the bay. Once at the opening, they scan for any activity. Seeing no threats, they then dive to a depth of about twenty meters and start navigating to the target location.
Once in the target area, they surface with their weapons ready. They surfaced about two hundred meters from the shoreline and now start to survey the target area. Torpedo uses night vision equipment to locate the target, as Wetsuit covers them with his M4 rifle. Torpedo spots what could be the cobra base. They move to about one hundred meters from the shore for a closer look. Wetsuit provides security as Torpedo scans the rock formation for any signs of Cobra’s base. He first sees a zodiac raft tied up at a small dock in a cave. He continues to scan and sees more evidence of a Cobra base. Torpedo grabs his radio’s hand mic, and reports his findings. “Helmet six, this is Bluefish two, I have eyes on the target. It looks like there is a cave and tunnel network in the rock formation. I can see two caves with docks. Each dock has one zodiac. Sending images of the boat positions now”. ”Bluefish two, I received the images” comes the reply from Hawk. |

“Helmet six, we have a gun position in an opening in the rocks, with what looks like a M40 105mm recoilless rifle. There are two men with an automatic weapon at this gun position. Image sent”.
Searching the rocks further, Torpedo finds another cave. “Helmet six, we have a second gun position, with a recoilless rifle, manned my two soldiers. As Torpedo scans the rocks, Wetsuit gives the signal for contact, and points to the east, where there is a small boat approaching. Torpedo signals to dive and they both disappear under the waves. A zodiac raft roars over the submerged divers, and proceeds to the Cobra base. Torpedo and Wetsuit surface and watch as the zodiac is tied up at one of the boat positions. They can see boxes being unloaded from the raft, and stacked on the dock. Torpedo radios in, “Helmet six, a small boat at just docked at the base and is unloading, should we move closer and see what’s be unloaded?” “Negative Bluefish two. We have enough intel, proceed to the extract point. Helmet six out.” “Roger that, heading to extract point”. The two divers submerge and swim to the extraction point. They surface about one click outside of the bay at the extract point. “Minnow four, this is Bluefish, we’re at extract point, awaiting pickup.” “Copy that, we’re in route, ETA is eighteen minutes” Shipwreck replies. As the RIB approaches Torpedo and Wetsuit, they use an infrared light to signal the boat. The RIB pulls alongside the divers and Shipwreck pulls them from the water and helps stow their gear as Cutter extracts the team back to the USS Flagg. End of part one. I hope to make two more parts to this dio, but I'm waiting on some figures to come from HTS before I can do part two which will have more action than this one. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks guys, I'm glad you're enjoying it.
I'm waiting for a Cobra eel to come, and I need to finish my custom Moray boat before I start the next part of the story. Part two of the story will have Cobra special forces in action. |

Excellent job on the dio and story. I can't wait to see the episode with the EEL's. I really like the satellite image, those photos are spot on.
