Here it is, the long awaited stop motion collection thread! Every day this month, I'll post one of my stop motions with a little back story on the production of the film. Let me first start off by telling a little about my history with stop motions...
Inspired at a young age by many Christmas specials such as 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer' and 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town', I became curious about stop motion quite early on. I often asked my parents how these films were done, and they told me that it was done with lots of patience and time. Being 5 years old, with little to no patience, I lost interest quickly. But interest sparked again in many years later when I first witnessed the insanity that is 'Robot Chicken.' This time around, I was much more patient. I gathered up my favorite action figures, and prepared to make an epic movie! I soon found out, however, that making stop motion films required lots of professional equipment and computer programs, which is something I absolutely did not have. But that didn't stop me from experimenting. Fiddling around with my dad's camcorder, I found that hitting 'record' and 'pause' really fast made quick snippets of recording. This was my chance. This was the beginning of my stop motion adventure. Many films were made with the old camcorder, and many of them were terrible, to say the least. A few years after that, I began looking more into stop motion, and what exactly I needed in order to make better stop motions. I found various programs that were made for stop motions alone, but they came with a pricetag. So, like any person, I tried to find the cheapest ways to make good films. Using Windows Movie Maker, I made my first real stop motion. The film starred Snake Eyes, pulling out and shooting various weapons. (NOTE: This stop motion cannot be showed because I did not realize that my 3 year-old nephew was playing in the background. My family won't allow his image to be put onto the internet.) So excited I was, I began planning my first stop motion project. This is where I will begin the process of 'Stop Motion Posts'... |

Day 1 The Investigation Original upload date: July 12, 2010 Inspired by the Ages 25 & Up P.I.Joe comic, this stop motion was set in the 1930-40s, and was done with a black and white filter. The filter effect was a huge 'cheat' in this film because is covered up all the lighting mistakes and funky colors on the characters. The main figure in the film is almost an exact copy of the character that was in the comic. Everything was the same, the figure, the head, and even the same hat. Though there is one difference between my version, and Mr. 1337W422102's version. The legs. I used the legs from the RoC Cobra Commander, as opposed to the legs that were on the PP SE. The film was by far the hardest to film out of all my stop motion productions, for many reasons. I had no tripod, poor lighting equipment, and a lot of the shots were filmed within a set that was extremely difficult to navigate through. Filming took about 3-4 days, and editing took even longer. Because Windows Movie Maker is so old, it constantly froze, causing massive frustration. But it was all worth it when the final product came in. I showed everyone in my family, and all were impressed with what I had produced. Since this was my first actual stop motion, it was very hard to decipher and understand. So, in order for you to understand what's going on, I'd suggest reading this first... A private eye investigator happens to witness a mugging of a woman on the side of the street. When the culprit runs away, he sees that he had dropped a mysterious note that leads him to the groups base of operations. Once there, he witnesses a trade going on between two different groups of people. The ones working for the mugger were supposed to pay for supplies but instead killed the other men, thus keeping the money and the supplies. The investigator is just about to storm in when the woman shows up. Realizing they're on the same side, they decide to take them down together. They fight off the troops and let the leader escape. The investigator goes after the leader to catch him. Just as he leaves, the woman goes inside the building to look around. The investigator wrecks the leader's car. Just as he's about to get shot, the leader of the other gang shows up, wanting revenge for the death of his men. So, he kills the mob leader, the woman and the investigator. Okay, now that you're done, here it is, the finished film, The Investigation. Last edited by Samuntrus; 12-01-2011 at 09:55 PM.. |

Day 2 G.I.Joe Vs. War Machine Original upload date: July 26, 2010 This video was a fun little thought I had about how the Joes would react upon seeing War Machine. Intended to be a sort of comical video, it actually came out a little too serious. It was originally intended to end when the rocket launched into them, but since it was too short, I added a little scene at the end. It gave the video a sad side, and also holds the door open to a continuation concerning revenge, which is something I have considered doing. One little fun fact is that this is still the only video in which any sort of missile is launched. Well, now that I've blabbered enough, here I present, G.I.Joe Vs. War Machine. |

You should make a part 2, as revenge always makes for great entertainment.
