Day 4 Duke Load-Up Original upload date: August 15, 2010 This was the first of quite a few 'load-up' stop motions. In these videos, the character takes out all of their various weapons and accessories and displays them by shooting them or showing their function. This idea came about when my PoC Duke fell off the shelf. Crashing to the floor, all of his accessories scattered. After retrieving them all, I realized he (and most of the PoC line) had a crap ton of stuff! So, of course, I made a stop motion. An interesting fact is that the flash light bulb wasn't an edited effect. I actually held a small flashlight at such an angle as to wear the handle couldn't be seen. It came out fantastic, so I stuck with it. The cool thing about this film is that somehow, I got the lighting damnnear perfect! Never again was I able to capture this kind of light in any other film. Well, here it is, enjoy... I will check this from home tonight SAMMY, I look forward to it. |

Day 5 Beachhead Load-Up Original upload date: August 15, 2010 After the fun I had with the Duke load-up, I thought it'd be cool to continue with them and make several. This one is clearly the worst out of all of the load-ups. It only took about a half an hour to film, and about 20 minutes to edit. I decided to add some humor with the flippers and the mask. This was actually the only stop motion not filmed in my room. It was filmed in my older brother's room in front of a printer. I was actually thinking of redoing this load-up in the future, but with so many other things in pre-production, it'll have to wait. Well, not much else to say about this one. I guess I'll show it now. |

I first came across your stuff when you started posting the "load ups" here on the Tank. Still get a kick out of 'em. I love how they just throw their weapons down after demonstrating them.

Yeah, that's what drew a lot of people in. They're quite entertaining, and extremely easy to make.

Day 6 Halo Apocalypse Trailer Original upload date: March 24, 2011 Yes, as you can see, there is an extremely large gap between this video and the last one. After the last load up, I got a little bored with stop motion, and my work took a little break. Mostly because of school work. So, here's the trailer for my Halo series of stop motions. This is actually the most cinematic stop motion I'd shot since I'd started making them. I put a lot into it, and a lot came out of it. I put in music, effects, and even voice-overs. This was the first stop motion of mine to feature voice-overs, and it still has the best voice-overs. My older brother played the voice of Carter, and I played the voice of Noble Six. As you can tell, neither of us were fans of putting our voice on YouTube, so we heavily edited the audio. This was also the first video to feature animated blood effects. They didn't come out well, mostly because it was done in MS Paint, but it was good enough. And if you were wondering, the song featured in this video is called 'War of Angels' by Two Steps From Hell. Here's the trailer. |

Day 7 The Investigation Part 2: Deadly Deception Original upload date: April 25, 2011 Script: I really, really wanted to continue with the Investigation story line, but I wasn't too sure of how to do it. Since the last one left on a 'to be continued' screen, I figured it would be easy, but I couldn't get around the last shot. He clearly got a bullet in the back of the head, and to say anything otherwise would be ridiculous. So, I gave him a son. For most people, it wasn't the easiest thing to figure out, but it does show the black and white image of the guy on the ground, and the son says "I will avenge you, father...", so I figured it'd be pretty easy to comprehend. I think it was more of the fact that he was the exact same figure from the first film. I also really wanted a companion for the main character, kind of like a throwback to the first. This was a good decision in some ways, but unlike the secondary character in the first, she doesn't bring much to the story. She's just a hired gun. The companion in the first actually had a reason to be there. She was robbed. But this new character has no real connection to the story or events. For some stupid reason, I wanted an epic sword/ninja fight. What the hell was I thinking?! It was probably the worst decision I've ever made in a script. I think the sword fight and the robot guy ruined the whole video. In case you were need an explanation (which I'm sure everyone does), here's the plot/story... As you all know, the investigator from the first film was killed by a mob leader with a gold metal mask. Now the investigator's son works for him, not knowing he was the one that murdered his father. The mod leader sends the investigator's son on many assignments to kill his fellow siblings for money. He is sent with a partner who grows an attachment to him. After their last assignment, the mob leader orders the girl to kill the investigator's son, or she will not get paid. She eventually agrees, and goes to exterminate him. But will she succeed? Filming: The filming went surprisingly smooth for about half of the film. I worked sufficiently for a few days until stopping for a few weeks. That was when it started to get rushed, and things became sloppy. The cool thing to note though is that in the first scene when the camera pans around, I'm actually moving the whole set. By far, the worst scene is the robot/ninja fight. It's the highlight of the film, and it's the biggest embarrassment. Such an extremely silly, childish idea. And the execution of the scene was even worse. Sloppy editing, no muzzle flashes, and incomplete sounds make this portion almost unwatchable. It sort of picks itself up at the end though. So, all in all, this wasn't my best work. It's only slightly better than the first, but still falls short of even decent. So, here's the film, please try to enjoy.... |

Day 8 vs. Original upload date: Part 1- April 25, 2011 Part 2- April 27, 2011 Part 3- May 15, 2011 Special thanks goes out to TheNoBleNiNe for the suggestion of this series. Originally intended as a test animation for a new stop motion program I'd just downloaded, this soon turned into a series. Up until this point, I'd been using Windows Movie Maker, which was terrible. It only had a frame-rate of about 7 frames per second. After quite a lot of research, I came upon a program call 'MonkeyJam', which could achieve a frame-rate of 30 frames per second. I wanted to test it out, so I made this. The first part was filmed on a small grouping of two lego platforms. It took about two hours to film, and about three hours to edit. I had to really go through the program and figure out how everything worked. Once I got the hang of it, I went ahead and knocked out the rest. The second part was filmed on the same location on some bigger platforms. It went a lot smoother than the first part. The third part took a while, with a huge set, more figures, and some pretty sweet moves. It wasn't as great as I planned it to be, but it was, by far, the best out of the three. The battle consists of Lego figures and MegaBloks figures. On the Lego side, we have the ninjas, and on the MegaBloks side, we have the Halo spartans. And with each round, their numbers increase. Clearly an epic battle. Since they're all so short, I figure I'll throw em all in here at once. Enjoy! |

Day 9 G.I.Joe Load-Up Battle #1 Original upload date: April 26, 2011 This stop motion came out one day after the Lego Vs. MegaBloks video. It was sort of another MonkeyJam test, but it evolved to something much bigger. It's currently my most viewed video, and is the only one that has a 'crowd'. I threw in the audience noises to make it funnier. I got kinda bored of just regular load-ups, I thought this was a cool idea. Initially, the remote that Firefly pulls out was supposed to trigger something, but I never thought of anything. It's funnier the way it is anyway. Well, not much more to say, enjoy the video! |
