I think both parties need to take a step back and look at what occurred: 1) The buyer got refunded + some of what was ordered. He may not have been satisfied, but once he upset the seller - warranted or unwarranted - the seller did what was necessary to end the transaction. 2) The seller felt like he was being scammed. Sellers are needless to say wary of this on ebay. Maybe it was fair, maybe it was unfair, but that was how he felt. The buyer didn't like his attitude in dealing with it. And left negative feedback.
That should have been the end of the story. A bad seller, in my estimation, is someone who deals unfairly. You got your money back. You got stuff. You came out WAY ahead. The seller now gets bad mouthed on ebay, bad mouthed here and maybe all over the internet. Maybe he had a bad day, but you got your "revenge" once - how much does this guy have to pay for you to feel justified?

This is what this jerk let off in these message postings:
FEB 24 right after i said i would send him another one: not_the_hoople: Hey, I got another one! Both backpacks from the Night Creepers I bought weren't in the baggies. Hopefully those are locatable, too. That'd be neat. That looks like the possible misunderstanding here. It seems when he said that, you thought he found the other set. So then when he reads your email stating that you forgot to ship the backpacks and don't mention the Heetseek set, he sends an email to make sure you know what he's missing. I can see where from the seller's point of view, it might have been a little confusing because it almost does sound like the buyer says he got another Heetseek set. Also with some of the horror stories I've heard from sellers, this seller might have been on guard about getting scammed (not that the buyer is a scammer or anything) The capiche comment might have been slightly rude, but it does seem that the buyer was upset at having to wait longer than normal for his items. The response to that one silly word seemed out of proportion to the situation. The exchanges really hadn't read like they were increasing in hostility, so that just seemed way out of place for the previous comment, although I did notice the seller ended his first email reply with "be cool" which does read like the seller already felt the buyer was getting either anxious or demanding right from the start. I will commend the seller for at least refunding the buyers money. While it sucks that the buyer still has to track down the items he wants, I've heard of some sellers that would have just said tough, and let the buyer deal with it. I hope this possibly can clear up what seems to be a misunderstanding between both parties and they are able to move on |

People need to be aware that written messages are a horrible way to communicate, however a lot of the time it is the only way. My advice is for both of you to try your best at avoiding ambiguous statements in the future.
I do admit though that him failing to ship items twice in a row would have highly irritated me too. Personally, I have a really good memory, but I still write notes for everything. Last edited by Brcall; 03-05-2010 at 09:49 AM.. |

That the buyer had a bad experience the 1st time and then went back for a second helping is the part of the story I find most frustrating. To get a refund on both Night Creepers and then slander the guy on Hisstank also seems a little excessive. I'll take 2 back pack-less Night Creepers for free, they can bury their swords in Joes' stomachs for all I care. The "capice" at the end of the buyer's message obviously set the seller off. I do think the seller was over the top with his response as The Longest Day stated, and should have taken the high road. All in all, some great Friday morning drama for the Tank, nice work boys ![]() |

No offense to OP, but you sounded a bit dickish in your comments to him. I'm not saying they are unwarranted, I would have been a lot harsher. For the eBay seller, if someone pulled that on me, I would be filing a chargeback and leaving them a neg very rapidly. I don't care how busy your life is, or how much shit is going to hell in it, if you have a contract (Yes, an eBay sale is a legally binding contract) you need to fulfill it. I've shipped stuff during some of the WORST times, because that's how business works. It's really not that hard to keep track of this stuff either.
This bugs the hell out of me. Not just here, but everwhere on the internet. People could really spend the 30 seconds to run things through some sort of spellcheck, and add *SOME* punctuation. I don't want things to be perfect, just readable. I understand not everybody speaks English as their first language, I'm fine with that, but I've seen how much people who only speak English butcher the language anymore, and it's just out of laziness. It truly pisses me off. |

If you sell hundreds of items ( it's just G doing this ) and work over 60 hours to 60 hours a week of physical labor YES it's hard to deal with and you NEVER know what life throws at you and YES it gets very tricky to get to Post Office with my hours so getting stuff shipped gets really hectic. This is a passion not my full time job, I well aware of ebays policies thank you. I gave him all his money back on those items and he got to keep whatever he did in fact get or didn't get ( if anything ) don't care just want to free of people who do not deserve. I WILL take care of ALL if they treat me with some respect to.
I know you haven't asked for advice, but I wanted to try to help you avoid situations like this again. |
