Are you guys seeing an uptick in deadbeat buyers? I sold a few items from my collection and both buyers didn’t pay.

eBay has gotten really bad over the last couple of years; cancels, fraudulent claims, folks trying to lowball you on BIN items... I don't know what is causing this.

That's cause Ebay is out to protect the buyers. There is nothing you can do. I just have my settings set that you can't bid or buy any of my items if you have even one unpaid item against you.
I just relist. It's just annoying if it's a time sensitive thing that I have listed. It happened a while ago on an un-announced Batman figure. First time, it bid up to over $100. After that, it ended up going for $60 as more started showing up after mine. Still, it was a nice sale, but it irks me that the first guy bid and then just didn't pay and by the time I was able to relist, mine wasn't the only one anymore. Even though I listed it at cost, there was still enough demand to drive it up.

Nighthawk, where in the settings is that available? Have also had a major uptick in negatively impacted sales due to non payers. The big irk is when folks make a best offer and don’t pay after it’s accepted.

Bad “buyer”...tvmikey, aka TV Mike on eBay. He had his name up and changed it to TV Mike as I was typing this, his name is Michael Emge. Dude sent two offers on Thursday for both the SDCC DESTRO variants. I accepted. Then at midnight, Friday, he requested to cancel, as he thought it was for only one and that he thought it was for the 25th cartoon variant. No problem, you clearly are b.s.ing, but I took the path of least resistance and canceled the orders. Then this morning, I find three emails asking me to cancel three bids he put on three different listings that were ending shortly. His excuse this time was that he’s new to eBay, then that he can’t afford them and then he made a mistake bidding. Anywho, just putting his info out there.

Just sold a couple of things on Ebay for the first time in almost a year. They really changed up their format, payment method and fees. The fees are ridiculous now - about 12% (winning bid+shipping) is given to ebay...time to explore alternatives.

The payment option is clear as mud. Still waiting for the transactions to process. With Paypal it was so simple. It looks like all of the online marketplaces have been hit with the same fees. Such BS.

Example: Sent one guy a soda bottle (thermal detonator from Disney). Bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap, put in a box with shipping peanuts. Clown receives package; Claims item inside is damaged, with NO damage to the outer box. What he did was dent the bottle so that the air was out of it and put the cap back on. Even eBay must've thought this guy was full of shit, as they found in my favor (or, didn't backcharge me, at least). Time to finally launch my own website and be done with it. Quote:
Oh, then it's another $0.35 for a transaction fee. But wait, there's more! Was that an international sale? Then add another 1.65% on that total. The best part? eBay charges you that 12.55% ON TOP OF the tax that they charge the buyer...so although you're not seeing a red fucking cent of that tax money, you're sure as shit being charged against it. Dual taxation without representation is fun, innit? |
