the_all_sports_family is another one to stay away from when it comes to shipping charges.
http://myworld.ebay.com/the_all_sports_family I bought a McFarlane NFL Michael Bennett figure from them to do an Adrian Peterson custom. The figure was $8.99. Shipping was set at $10.65(insurance included) which is about $3-4 too high for a McFarlane to begin with. I paid with Paypal right after the auction and a day later the money was refunded. Why? Well, the seller decided to tack on a "handling" fee for paying through Paypal. Otherwise known as Circumventing Fees! I sent the seller a message letting them know that I was going to pay for the auction but at the same time that I was reporting them to Ebay for both Excessive Shipping and Circumventing Fees. Wonder how this one will pan out??? |

Wow SPC, I feel your pain, man. The saga on my end continues as well. Here's yet another response:
"Dear cobra.island.arms.dealer, First of all I am not a MA'am . And second of all I was not yelling. I was simply stating that I didn't have to explain to you my shipping. My auction listed shipping for that item. And also stated that additional items will receive a $1.00 discount off shipping for each additional item. I would suggest reading the auction details next time (http:ebayauction/gijoe) and for the gouging , I charge reasonable shipping so where do you get that is gouging? I suggest not bidding on my auctions after this if you are not satisfied." Here's my reply: Well then, Sir, perhaps if your eBay user name wasn't "Marilyn", then you wouldn't have any confusion. As for "Not gouging", you charged me $16+ for Parcel shipping to a state "next door", and you don't see that as gouging? Are you shipping my figures in 3 seperate boxes? No, you're not, you're shipping them in the same box. Don't see the gouging yet? The person that won your lot of 5...what did they get charged for shipping? I bet it wasn't $16+, yet their package is obviously heavier than mine. Either way, you have received your payment in full. Please have my items shipped. As I am literally in the next state over, it shouldn't take that long. As for future business, no worries there. Thanks & Merry Christmas. |

Man you guys think its bad in the states, try being a buyer from Canada ! ! !(I live in Canada & buy from the USA all the time) ... I routinely see shipping prices for ONE carded figure between $15.00 - $27.00 to Canada.
Actual cost always comes at $2.24 - $2.86 but try to explain that and you get all the excuses....:( Worst excuse I heard so far was...."I have to pay for heating in my building...etc."

I love seeing items for $0.99 cents and shipping set at $30 figgin bucks, haha. I still see "adding $$$ for PayPal fees" on some auctions.

yea, that ain't cool.
i actually feel bad. i just refunded a guy most of his back. he sent me 12.00, i combined the two figures and it came to like 3.25, minus the box (usually 1.00) and i'll refund him like almost 8.00 so there are honest people out there. i've been refunded shipping as well in the past. |

Same here, OutBack. I always refund any overpayments.
The way I see it is....Sellers should make their profit off of their merchandise, not shipping. |

Ok...my package arrived today...and I'm all sorts of jaded. check this out.
Shipping & Handling (includes any seller handling fees): $15.85 USD Shipping Insurance (optional): $1.30 USD I paid a total of $17.15 for shipping. How much did the seller spend, you ask? ![]() Now....for that overcharge, the Seller surely packaged the 3 figures well, right? ![]() If you consider a video box well...then yeah, he sure did. ![]() Wow, 11 packing peanuts! NICE! |

When you choose to bid on an item with preset shipping cost, even if the actual postage doesn't cost that total amount. I don't know if it's fair to complain about it.
I mean if you know what he's gonna charge for shipping before you bid and you still received the item in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe the overchage is what he thinks his effort to pack the item and carry it to the mail drop is worth? i dunno. |

Well, I look at it this way...if the Seller in question would've actually packed the item as though he gave a shit, then I wouldn't be so upset.
The items were shoved in a video box. 3 carded figures, 1 video box. I was overcharged 10.70 on shipping...to have my items handled this way? Plus, I didn't know upfront what shipping costs were going to be..the seller's listing stated "$5.85 - shipping discounts available".... Then when invoiced, I was asked for $17.15...where's the discount there? But alas, if I don't/didn't pay for the item, I'd get negatives left for me and non paying bidder alerts. Regardless of how you look at it, NO ONE should try to make a profit on shipping. Make your profit on the item you're selling. |

I can't tell you how many times I've won an auction when the seller makes more money off of "shipping" than the item up for bid. I guess it's buyer beware and I should be trying to nail down a cost before bidding, but Ebay has now become a last resort for me. I guess the days off honest sellers is quickly fading. Kudos to you guys who go the extra mile to refund any overages, and package things with care. |
