Yeah, doesn't seem to be one of those . Guess they can't all be five-star.
Banned is crap though. I didn't even get a chance to leave feedback for a certain already-mentioned seller because he cancelled the auction minutes before it ended because I was about to get a POC Lowlight for $5 and he wanted more (he told me this). When I said, "That's pretty shit of you" he banned me. Saved me from snarky comments at least! Funny thing is, I don't even expect an ebay seller to be an "above and beyond type customer service outfit." Most of them are just folks like me, selling their shit. They're not businesses (unlike kokomo-toys). But I do expect them to uphold their end of the deal, follow the rules and not act like turds. |

And THAT, is the perpetual disappointment of it all. Because you're right that it's people like you and I (even businesses are just people after all) and we don't think that last bit is that bloody hard.

This person won an auction and gave me the tired, "Oh, my two-year-old kid bid on this and bought this accidentally." Really? Your two-year-old kid knows how to bid in $1.00 increments on 6 separate occasions in the final minutes of an auction? And your two-year-old kid is really into Transformers products aimed at adult collectors? Good grief. It's bad enough to get a deadbeat bidder. It's even more insulting to get a story like this on top of it. In the future, all deadbeat bidders should just write, "You know what, I'm a jackass. Sorry I cost you time and money because I can't decide what I really want, and I have no problems with your paying for my indecisiveness." Copy and paste. |

So I won auction for the sdcc arkham knight batmobile for $162ish with shipping. Received message from seller saying it was lost in a fire and didn't have any others. A side of me wants to not be an asshole and assume this seller is lying bc the item sold for lower than was expected so I'm getting a crap story and cancelled sale. But the cynic in me knows better. Is this a common thing. Has anyone else here had this happen?

I have never had this happen to me, but I have had no pays on my auctions. |

Thanks for the advice. I have at least one no pay every time I list items. It's an inevitablity. What's aggravating is when you get a no pay and relist the item and it sells for half what the last sale price was. Except some folks bite the bullet and some screw people over. Way of the world, I suppose.

I don't have the budget to deal in anything other than the occasional Joe figure for $5-$15 (shipping inc) here and there. No selling really but I've been buying 1-2 a month for years now. I bid on the forgotten auctions, the ones I can get screaming deals on.
And I've gotta tell you, being an eBay seller is a VERY dangerous lifestyle. I've won auctions for POC Low-Light for $15, ROC Firefly for $6 and an ROC Bench Press for $11 and amazingly coincidentally enough, those sellers each experienced stomach cancer, a house fire, a hurricane (in New Mexico) and that's not even mentioning the number of times the seller's wife already sold/shipped/destroyed/otherwise f*cked up and the item wasn't available. This is in addition to the auctions I've been winning with minutes left to go that got cancelled because I was getting a $40 figure for $15 and was the only bidder. Once that was "the wife's fault" and once the guy just said, "Tough shit, it's my right to do that and get what I want." 'Course that last guy then banned me from bidding when I told him that was shitty. Heh. But yeah, selling is dangerous! Lots of bad things strangely happen to heaps of eBayers.
