Alright, my feelings about overcharging for shipping, while offering a low price are well known here. My only concern is that I as a consumer don't get ripped off. Shill bidding is a different story, because you are deliberately trying to jack up the price beyond what the market value should be and rip off the consumer.
GI Joe Rise of Cobra Canceled Target Wave 3 set of 4 - eBay (item 260740456303 end time Feb-24-11 17:26:50 PST) Take a look at almost every single item this guy has up and tell me if there is anything fishy about the bid-history. Notice the same guy with 1 feedback bidding on multiple auctions, constantly driving the price up by small increments? Yeah, well, I don't know if you can see it without being logged in, but I can click on this guys hidden name, and while it still won't tell you who they are, it tells me that 100% of his 23 bids in the last month have been for this one seller's items. Am I being paranoid here, or is this legitimately suspicious? EDIT: Sorry, this might be in the wrong forum. Please move to Ebay. |

I see the guy you're talking about, but he's not on that many of that other guys items... But you're probably right about him/her though, it seems pretty obvious that he's uses those bids to really push up his prices... i think the most obvious one is the Metallica sale. People suck... period... all we can do is try to be better.

You're not being paranoid at all. In fact your post caused me to go back and see two listings I recently bid on that seemed suspicious. I was bidding on an AOTC Vintage Collection Zam and Jango. Almost immediately after the auction was over, I recieved a second chance offer from the seller for both figures. The offers were at my highest bids. So I just looked at the Zam listing and there is a person who bids 97% of the time on this sellers listings. For the Jango listing it was a different username that has 90% of his bids with this seller. Looks like it was happening on the AOTC wave. A qucik check of some other sold items don't seem suspicious. Sounds like the same thing you ran into.

I reported four of the seller's auctions to Ebay, all of which had the phantom bidder.
Damnit! I f***ing hate reporting people! It makes me feel unclean! Now I'm even more pissed at the seller! >_<; |

what is the difference between this and buying all of the popular figures from one area and re-selling them at a much higher price at your local toy store?

Another seller was selling an item for $0.99 and charging $27 to ship. Days and days went by with multiple reports. Nothing. I post two of them same auction and had the second auction pulled almost immediately. They are hypocrites to nth degree. |

b) BIG F***ING DIFFERENCE!!! Shill bidding is a humongous waste of the buyers time, because if you set the price unrealistically high to begin with, they can just decide to move on. Now I just spent 3 f***ing days watching this auction that I could have spent bidding on one that wasn't rigged. It gives the buyer that ray of hope they might get a bargain, that the actual market value isn't what the scum-sucking scalpers try to pass it off as! It gives you that hope and then snatches it out of your hands! If that shill bid hadn't come along I could have gotten the complete set for $45 (what they would've cost at Target plus tax), but I got cheated! Somebody must pay! Somebody must pay dearly for my time having been wasted and... ... I... ...WILL... ...HAVE... ...VENGEANCE!!! Shut up! Melodrama is in my blood (along with habanero sauce and whiskey)! :P MY HOT, RIGHTEOUS, BOILING BLOOD!!! |

I don't think you should feel bad about reporting anyone on ebay. Especially when there is a high probability something shady is going on. The worst part of it is, the guy selling these items probably doesn't feel bad, but you do for standing up and doing what's right.
Thanks for pointing this type of activity out. I will be sure and watch for this on future ebay purchases. |

OK, I remember this seller. Originally "Paradisecollectables" Now camp_crystal_lake_inc eBay My World - camp_crystal_lake_inc. I knew what was up with this guy back in the day, using shill bids on his own auctions AND others too (mine).
Multiple obvious shill bidders on auctions. Take your screenshots now and look at the multiple bidders who have bid 100% on his auctions. He is from Brentwood TN. He will likely make his feedback ID private, like some other prominent Gi Joe sellers on EBAY have to attempt to hide their shill bidders, as they have been doing this for 4 years and more.
