Short and sweet:
I picked up a gen1 Dinobot Grimlock with box and instructions a few weeks back. Took several detailed pics of said Transformer with box and put it on ebay. I get an e-mail from winning bidder stating 3 silver missiles are missing. I check the auction picture and the 3 missiles in question aren't pictured. In the auction description, however, I state that all original parts and accesories are included. I had listed several other complete gen1 transformers and I was using the same template and forgot to change that information or I didn't realize that grims came with 3 missiles. I'm not a Transformers collector so I wouldn't have readily realized what was missing or not. Either way I made a mistake. I'm wondering if I should require the buyer to send back the item for a full refund, or if I should offer a partial refund based on the market value of the 3 missiles? I checked ebay and they're going for about 7 bucks a piece plus shipping. Also, if the buyer sends the item back, do I get a FVF credit from ebay? |

resolve the error with the buyer and see what he wants to do, you owe it to him to give him whichever option he chooses because it's your listing mistake
1. full refund 2. list cost of missiles and refund him

I have done the same before. Best option is to refund him. It sucks but the description is what ebay will hold you to. Try a partial refund with buyer. see if that works =)

Back in the day I had a similar situation.
I sold a vintage slave 1. had all the parts including the Han carbonite figure. It was in the photo....... I sent it out and the buyer told me it was not in the box. I could have sworn it was there but for the life of me I could not remember if I out it back in the slave 1. End result, buyer won and I had to give refund and he still kept the toy. THAT I did not agree with but Paypal sided with the guy. Hell, I was trying to find him one to make it right. Offered the refund but he still went to Paypal. Thats why I do not use it anymore. Good luck with this. |

Be honest with the buyer. Offer a partial refund. If you sell a lot on eBay, offer a full refund. I have made a mistake like this before and refunded the full amount. You may be able to find the missing pieces online. If that's the case, offer to buy them and have them sent to the buyer. It's a tough price to pay, but it is an investment in your reputation.

I've had to do partial refunds before for a few bucks, but this one could be pricey. I thought I might do better to get him to send it back, give a full refund and then re-sell it again. I'm still not clear as to ebay giving Final Value Fee credits if an item gets fully or partially refunded. If anyone knows I would appreciate the info! |

Why not just send the guy the missiles and call it a day? Put 'em in a letter envelope and 47 cent stamp.

bset way to look at the situation is to reverse it,how would you want the situation resolved??explain the situation to the buyer and take it from there, dont feel bad.like you said it was a genuine mistake, you didnt set out to mislead anyone, just learn from the experience..hope you come to a suitable agreement for the both of you!!!
