I have seen one or two listing that advertise local pickup with a small pickup fee. But thet are upfront about it. Any seller that tried that shady tactic needs to be reported to ebay and if you want to back out I am pretty sure ebay will not hold it against you. I would definitely leave negative feedback.
I bought a Joe off ebay a few months back. I used the buy it now option and paid for right away. After a few weeks it had not come so I contacted the seller. He tells me he misshipped it to someone else by mistake. Okay, things happen, people make mistakes. He says he is contacting the other party to see if they will ship it to me. After four days I get back in touch and he says well I can't get hold of the other guy so I'll send you another one. Two weeks go by and nothing. So I get back in touch with him and he has NOT sent another one. He gives me the same bullshit about having the other party send the one they got by mistake. So I left negative feedback and filed a dispute with paypal for the payment. I got my money back and several nasty emails from him because of the negative feedback, which as I find out is his habit cause I was contacted by other buyers who experienced the same. He is a fellow tanker. Or at least was. I haven't seen him post in a while. There are good and bad on ebay. If a buyer is a ass or scams you, don't just let it go. Leave negative feedback and file disputes with paypal. If enough people complain he'll get booted. |

FYI Priority Flat Rate Boxes now have "USPS PRIORITY MAIL" Printed on the Inside of the boxes as well. Guess they got tired of everyone flipping them inside out. You can still wrap them in the fancy brown paper bag wrapping paper though.
I always estimate the shipping on my ebay auctions using my ultra efficient guestimication table. So half the time I get screwed out of a few bucks and half the time I get a few extra. At least I'm listing the fee though and I'm not shipping media mail in a brown bubble wrap book mailer. |

Gimme a break.
I would way rather meet up with the buyer and hand him/her the winnings rather than going through the whole packing process & standing in line at the post office while some old geezer holds up the line for 10 minutes looking for their ID or yelling at the clerk as to why they can't pack the customers packages, supply tape & boxes....... I've done local pickup many times for buyers(when I used to sell on eBay - fees are too high now so I'm done with them) and NEVER felt the need to charge for that.
