Coffee, is that your auction or not? Same city, that's why I'm asking.

what, that i think that this variant craze is stupid? that people are taking it to the extreme? This shit is retarded, but there is 10 pages of bickering between you guys about 1s and 2s. Who cares. I sit back and watch ebay auctions go up and up and up ad laugh. Then come here and see tankers fighting about it all the time. If someone thinks its a variant then whatever.

You're quite amusing..
First, you are not getting your point through to me because it has no validity. You are simply "guessing". You have nothing to offer except a (what seems to be bitter and disgruntled lol) opinion on what variants should be qualified as. Anyone can toss out information and claim it's true. Sorry. Bring me the pudding with the proof in it. Second, you are acting as if you now speak for the masses, as if you are clued into what "people here" think about things. Let me help you my misguided friend. You don't. You are but 1 person on a forum for collectors of toys. This forum is made up of people who buy self made figures all the way to figures with a miniscule variations. Both, mind you, are just fine in my book. I do not judge people or act as if they feel something is worth buying makes them an idiot. Take example. I think you have other issues that are bleeding over into this variant topic that need to be addressed elsewhere and not on a toy forum. And nice chatting with you too! ;) Amusing is a good enough word for you as well, I suppose. As I've said, and has been shown and discussed in the past, the number 'variant' is a simple result of the mold making process. There really isn't any argument to that. Logic follows that if I have a '1' walkie-talkie, there will be '2' walkie-talkies out there. You've danced all around the question of how you'll know you have both, but I've accepted that you can't answer that question and just decided to ignore it. That's ok. As far as tossing out arguments without a grain of truth, see your comments re: Hasbro's 'word' on this subject. Again, I'll reiterate: I don't care that you think these are variants, I just think you seem smart enough to know better. Call it a variant in my opinions about your feelings on the matter. Hope you find 20 #2's and they make your life complete. I just wonder how you'll live without KNOWING you have both Mainframe walkie-talkies. Thanks for the amateur psychiatric analysis, btw. Now who's bloviating? LOL Shall we continue? I imagine you're almost as bored with it as I am...not quite, but almost. ;) |

Much like the people who have the version of figures with a back pack hole and the one that does not. It really boils down to what they feel is a complete collection. But you, much like others here, feel the need to force your opinions on people as to why you're right. Prove to people why your opinion should be accepted as the norm. How about you just decide to not buy it and let it go. What next, HASBRO makes a batch of 300 Cobra Commander figures without a logo on his chest and puts on their website for sale as a variant, are you gonna tear the people that bid on that apart also? "OMG, the ink ran out of the machine when it was being made! OMG, how idiotic can these people be!" I can hear it now. How about you let everyone buy their toys and you buy yours. Also, feel free to post the proof. thanks.

Also, feel free to post the proof. thanks. You're still ignoring the fact that HASBRO hasn't said the first thing about a variant. The toy shop (which is a separate entity) put up a listing based on what AFA stuck on a label. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not 'forcing' my opinion on anyone, any more than you are. I'm stating my opinion. Again, a variant...surely you can appreciate that. Your logo-less Commander argument is specious; first of all that would be an intentional change as you describe it, not a standard result of the process of making the figure. If it was unintentional, I would consider it an error, not a variant. I've never stopped anyone from buying whatever toy they wanted; I will, however, attempt to talk sense into people before they overspend on something. I've also never wavered from stating my opinions and if I believe something to be nonsense, you can bet I'll say so. Maybe if I had a monetary interest in pushing these as variants I'd understand. |

Again, Alot of smoke and no fire. You are indeed trying to force the reason of your arguement onto us or you wouldn't have chimed into this entire topic. You are trying to prove that it's not valid. When you are nothing more then a armchair critic. Period. Now your trying to let us know what you would consider a different figure variance. You just don't stop do you? lol.. Oh, well, you said it's only an error. Well then, it must be true! lol. Down with the people who have differing opinions! they are all loons! You have spoken! As far as the Hasbro thing, yes.. The company HASBRO is responsible for the content and information overall on their website. It's not a 3rd party company running it and hasbro has given them their license. This thread was started to show a HASBRO acknowledged variant was available on Ebay. I was not me that began the back and forth of variant definitions. Still waiting on that #2 talkie btw. Until you produce the proof of this existing...everything from here on out you type is excuses and attempts to remove the actual point of the topic I was talking to you about. Lucas says a figure is a variant, it's a variant. Trust me. Similar to HASBRO, they say it's a variant, then it will be treated as such. If it's not, then who cares. Some people want to have whats considered a complete collection. Let them do it. Stop acting as if your opinions and personal requirements for it to qualify as a variant needs to be humored. LOL...because they don't. Bring on somemore random jargon about whatever but the only thing that matters is you are full of empty facts. My entire point was HASBRO used the word variant. We have all seen the page with it on it. Your counterpoint involves the existance of another walkie talkie with a #2 on it to prove your point and bring validity to the "mold arguement".. so Where is the walkie talkie?

Some people will fall for anything. Even if Hasbro said it was a variant, this whole variant madness is just that: madness. But whatever, I don't really care so I guess it's all pointless to me.

As I've said, I'm no more forcing my opinion on you than you are forcing yours on me. It's a debate of opinion, and can only be carried out if there is more than one participant. If I'm at fault, so are you.
You brought up the ill-conceived example of the logo-less Commander. I gave you my opinion on it. Didn't say anyone had to agree with it. If you consider it a variant, that's fine. I mean, I'd feel sad for you if you thought it was special because it was a foul-up, but that's fine; fools and their money and all that. I find it interesting how defensive you seem to be getting about all of it though. I have never once said you had to change your opinion, I simply said I thought your opinion was foolish. Clearly you feel mine is elitist. I doubt either of us cares what the other thinks either way. HASBRO didn't use the word variant except to replicate a label from AFA. Which part of that is escaping you, exactly? In the case of the black Timber Snake-Eyes, they clearly stated it was a production variant; same with the black headed Destro and the clear Wraith. They did no such thing in this case. But please, since that's your best argument, keep bringing it up and shooting yourself in the foot. I looked at the auction when it was posted and laughed, and, hey, guess what? I didn't buy it! You should be happy; I didn't buy something I believed to be a load of hooey and let somebody else spend their hard-earned money on the rip-off instead. I kept my opinion and my money, and that works for me. As I've said, I have no monetary incentive to insist that these are a variant. As to interjecting myself on the topic of what is and isn't a variant...it's funny how these Internet message boards work. Anybody with an opinion is liable to spring up and state it at any given moment. /return volley, smoke and fire, whatever Oh, almost forgot. About the #2 walkie-talkie. Don't have a picture to show ya; to be honest, I doubt there's a picture of one out there because I doubt anyone cares enough to look. Logically, I know they are bound to exist, based on the same thing occurring with Doc and the EEL, but we've seen your logic filters at work already, so I know that won't stop you from gleefully rubbing your hands at the admission that I simply used logic instead of hunting down and opening more comic packs to prove a point. |

Let me correct you. I posted a link to an ebay sale. I never invited you or your approval of it to the thread. Do not act as if you and I are on the same level. You my friend are the one here trying to justify a point. That's all. This one made me laugh. As back handed as it gets with this comment. Let me translate.. "Do what you want..sure you're an idiot and wrong....but by all means.. go ahead. I'm right and you're wrong..but anyway, go ahead!" LOL, sorry, you're opinion is just that. Yours and yours alone. That has been the running problem here this whole conversation. You just are not happy with that being enough. I find it interesting how defensive you seem to be getting about all of it though. I have never once said you had to change your opinion, I simply said I thought your opinion was foolish. Clearly you feel mine is elitist. I doubt either of us cares what the other thinks either way. On the contrary, you are the one who seems to be defensive of just about everything that counters your opinion. Frankly you bring a smile to my face every time you post because you keep beating that dead horse as if that's gonna finally sway opinions your way (like that matters lol). I have yet to call your opinions "foolish" or anything while you consistantly degrade mine. A true example of ones inability to stand up to fact based points. Again, you have failed. I was one of these people who saw the posting HASBRO did with the figure listing. It stated variant. They then went on to change it to "a #2 on the gun" Sorry you missed it :( I looked at the auction when it was posted and laughed, and, hey, guess what? I didn't buy it! You should be happy; I didn't buy something I believed to be a load of hooey and let somebody else spend their hard-earned money on the rip-off instead. I kept my opinion and my money, and that works for me. As I've said, I have no monetary incentive to insist that these are a variant. As to interjecting myself on the topic of what is and isn't a variant...it's funny how these Internet message boards work. Anybody with an opinion is liable to spring up and state it at any given moment. I love it when people prove a point for you. Makes my job of explaining it much easier. Thank you. /return volley, smoke and fire, whatever Proof you are in it for the win in a conversation that you claimed "is meaningless". I have ended every post with "then don't buy it!" and yet you come back with more and more jargon. You have become rather humorous and predictable in it all really. Oh, almost forgot. Once again, I rest my case. Anyone can run their mouth off with so called facts and never get held accountable. This being another case in point! Well done. Well, I'm gonna go rub my hands now in glee not because you failed to show anykind of proof to substantiate your claim.... Not really. But now you realize you can't just toss it out there without any sort of credible proof or you will be laughed off. I can make up things all day. But they are gonna eventually realize there is no wolf coming and disreguard anything I have to say due to facts fulla holes and disproven claims. Get it? I'm glad we had this time, I hope you learn from it. For the sake of all of us.
