Man, selling on ebay is just becoming a major headache. I'm tired of idiot collectors trying to shake me down and I really don't believe ebay gives sellers the tools to protect ourselves. It's mostly Transformers collectors. I sell and item and describe it as I see it only to have someone who is either the most anal person on earth threatening me about condition or lying outright to extort their money back. I never make promises about toy grades or anything like that. If the card has bend or a tear I mention it. If it's got some dust on it and an ebayer wants to be an asshole about that? Fuck them. Note to Transformers fans... you have a shitty community full of cons, cheats and assholes. Thank you!
P.S. I started this thread in general because I figured if I put it in the ebay thread it would be moved to spam. So getting moved to ebay was an interesting call. Last edited by Headman; 01-14-2012 at 01:34 AM.. |

Honestly, I don't think this is limited to TF collectors, but rather, people in general.
Transformers is just one of the fandoms that's trendy right now (what with the movies, TF Prime, etc), so it's bound to get a wide range of buyers & sellers. Along with that, the fact that there's so much to choose from (Hasbro likes to reuse molds a lot for example) & the fact that a lot of things are being pushed via retail helps spoil us with prices, availability & conditions... even when when we're buying something from the 90's that's being described as "owned by a kid". On the flip side, I'd argue that there's just as many shitty sellers out there, and its really a game that I don't wanna be on either side of. That's one of the reasons I mainly deal on forums like this one, and why I'd recommend doing so infinitely. Plus, the fact that we have a network of several fandoms means that you don't have to go that far to find the right people, which is also a big plus. ... also, the Yugioh community is WAY shittier than the Transformers one, so just be glad you're not part of that one too. No offense to anyone who might choose to be offended by this statement, but it's true, and not even when it comes to trading & whatnot either.

Anymore I use sellers with lotsssss of feedback, buy it now or best offer, buy only from people with more than 1 thing I need so I can save on shipping, and only if they combine on shipping. That limits me a bunch. Also saves me money so I don't buy from just any Joe Schmoe, but my purchases generally cost a bit more, but I rarely if ever get something i didn't expect.
That said, I also never sell on ebay anymore, because of all the changes that jerk the seller. EDIT**** I also feel for people that get called "SCALPERS" all the time. They generally don't make as much as you think after all the fees associated with an auction now.... Blame ebay for the high prices on ebay.

I understand that it's not limited to Transformers collectors, but 99% of my problems come when selling TF items. I've been ripped off by a GI Joe seller before several years ago, but my problem with TF buyers is just becoming a trend. And it fits with their personality type. Transformers fans spend lots of money but they're also very picky. It's funny, this guy got a great deal and he's still bitching. As for the condition of the item I sent... It was sealed on the card. I listed it as such. The cards were in as close to great condition as could be expected, but I didn't say that in my auction. I said "Still on the card" and even listed it as a "used item". I also said if the pics weren't good enough to tell to message me. This asshole didn't do that. But it doesn't even matter because the condition wasn't even close to how this asshole is describing them. He's trying to shake me down with his (8) feedback newbie ass self. And he will probably succeed because ebay won't even let me give him feedback in return so that future sellers don't have to deal with this walking headache of a human being. |

I couldn't be considered a scalper because I don't sell new shit, I start all my auctions super low and ship for as close to actual cost as I can. I always combine shipping and answer every question about quality that comes my way. I consider myself to be a good seller. I'm also a good target because I'm not an online store with thousands of feedback. |

I should start posting personal info of people who screw me over on the net. I think this new guy deserves a profile on a few adult hook up sites.
