I have a question about ebay. I recently won an auction that had 15 bids. I was the first and last/winning bid. I watched the item go up .50 cents at a time with a bidder that had several hundred positive transactions and someone with 0 positive transactions. Then the guy with several hundred transactions stopped bidding. The guy with 0 and another guy with 0 starting bidding against each other. The auction ended with me winning.
So of the 15 bids, 7 of them were by people with 0 positive transactions. I guess I have never seen this before. I suppose this is perfectly fine. Just seems really weird. Has anyone had this happen to them? I have also seen auction owners say they will not accept zero bidders. Why is this? Is there some kind of scam I am not understanding? |

Many sellers have been burned by new bidders who bid their items up really high, then don't pay. That's why some sellers don't accept zero bidders.
As for the multiple bids, many people will bid up in small increments hoping to find out the current winning bid's top bid and try to win that way. Also sometimes this is done by a shill bidder to get the seller more money |

Could be false accounts created by or for the original seller to up the final closing cost.
