Hey all, I have an Ebay question I hope someone can answer for me
Let’s say I bid on an item that’s easily worth $100.00 and the current high bid on it is 99 cents. I’m the last bidder and I bid $2.00 and I win. Does the owner of the item HAVE to send this out? What usually happens in these situations? Do people get screwed over when they win something for a very low amount or do they get what they bid on no matter how little they got it for? I ask because I bid $5.00 on an item worth at least $60.00 and the high bid was 99 cents. I bid too later and it didn’t go through. So someone got it for 99 cents. I could just not sending the item because they don’t want to loose it for a 10th of what its worth. Thanks. |

If it is an auction, the item goes for the highest bid. Doesn't really matter what it is worth. The seller is required to ship the item. Now if they don't ship it, that's a story for another time.

You have to check if an item has a reserve price. If the reserve price isn't met the seller doesn't have to sell.

Ok, cool. Thanks so much for the info.
Guess I'm just afraid they won't send it if the price is too low (If there is no reserve price). Thanks again. :o) |

This is what I am afraid of. Seems to me if someone is selling an item and they are planning on getting $80 for it but then only get $5 they might just not send it out at all.

The seller is not obligated to complete the sale to you should he/she feel they didn't get what they wanted from the auction. They can and have done a cancellation of sale and can refund you your payment should you have paid. Ebay cares little about an item which you were refunded for, the item and it's value doesn't matter as what you won the item for is it's 'perceived' value. As long as E-bay and Paypal get their fees, there was no fraud and all moneys are where they belong, it's a done deal.
It's the sellers fault for not setting the auction at a price he wanted to acquire for the item, but again...as long as you're refunded and his ebay fees are paid...the seller can withdraw his item from the winner. |
