I just bought 7 loose vintage figs and the guy wants to charge me $17.00 shipping. I flat out refuse to pay that. I think that is way over the top. I can see maybe 9.99 for Priority. He listed each auction with $5.00 shipping and stated he would combine/lower shipping if 5 or more figures is won. I may be wrong but I am not paying for that unless it is overnight shipping. The guy already made $45.00 on the figs. Then he wants to make a little extra on the shipping as well.

It's how they make their money, assuming people don't raise the bullshit flag on them. If you contest it, it should get lowered. He probably will give in to avoid bad feedback...

I just think 17 bucks is a bit extreme.

It's very extreme.
When i used to sell figures, i charged about 50 cents for each additional figure...

This is crap. Priority shipping for a small parcel is only $4.95. You can easily fit 15+ loose figures in the box. I would raise the flag on this guy.

We all know between ebay fees and paypal fees, sellers make less now, but it's just plain wrong to pad the shipping without spellling it out clearly in the auction description. Some of the China sellers say full shipping for 1st item, 80% for each additional item, so you know if you buy a lot from them, you are gonna get slammed with shipping fees.... But it's right there in black and white... So you've been warned... I just don't like this particular practice you fell victim to, because it is intentionally hitting somebody at the end of the auctions with extra costs that the sellar isn't entitled to. There is no F***ing way he will spend $17 to ship those figs...

It is a buyers market. I would only charge what it cost to ship. I have over 600 rating at 100% and it is because I am fair. I just expect the same in return. I think 9.99 for shipping is more than enough and still gives the seller a bit extra.
