I'll say this: my "Midnight Run" Night Force 6-pack is one of my very favorite parts of my collection. The "Midnight Run" NF Tracker may be the crown jewel of my collection. Having a factory produced/painted, tactically updated version of one of my favorite characters is a great joy for me.

Did that dude really just pull in about $30K for toys in a day? That's excellent. That's the eBay casino at its finest.

I wonder how many of the items that went up to way overboard prices he actually gets paid on.
Nice stuff but don't feel bad that Mirage (which is real) isn't worth more then $500 unless you have other stages of the figures creation and even then $1300 is freakin crazy!!!! |

I have to chime in here regarding the "midnight run," "midnight chinese," "lunchtime special" label. That fact is, there have never, ever been anything of the kind.
The term "midnight chinese" is one that has origins on an older G.I.Joe message board. I'm not going to point out who said it, because it was coined in a thread where people were trying to put forth theories on where this stuff comes from because at the time that information was not out there. It was legitimate conversation, but somehow the theory has turned into a myth that lingers. When figures are made, part of the early process involves the vendor (aka factory) creating samples for several purposes, the most obvious of which is the fact that you wouldn't want to run tens of thousands of a figure before you check to make sure the process is right. Sometimes after that point, major corrections are made or a figure is canceled altogether. Other times, large runs are done or in process and are still canceled (as we have seen with the more recent PoC). If you think about it, could you really convince the entire shift of factory workers to stay longer just so a few sellers can put a handful of items on eBay? The numbers just don't add up. This stuff definitely exists in the modern line. Tiger Force Roadblock, Nano BAT, orange Volcano Viper....these are items that could be incorrectly labeled "midnight run," but we have some leads as to where the came from. These are no different than the dark blue Anti-Venom, canceled Wal-Mart parachute figures, or Robot Rebellion items. The reason sellers still choose to include the word "midnight" in their listing is that some people still believe in the incorrect theory while others just think it is a catchy title. Regardless of the fact that it is a misnomer, it still increases the number of people looking at your auction and therefore the final $. It is all about the $. Though I will agree that Hasbro does not endorse these. But it is also true that Hasbro does not endorse any figure coming directly from the factory because they have not necessarily met with Hasbro's quality approval. And in many cases, that isn't just safety. I know many recent figures that had slight tweaks to make them look better. |

i never have heard of these midnight figures, i was amazed at watching a starduster sell for 330 once but 1300 for this lame fig is insane to me.
most the time when a figure gets rare or is expensive it's because the fig is actually awesome, this was just some plain ass fig, i dont get it.
