Ok this was inspired by Violentfix and his sewer tunnel. (here's his link http://www.violentfix.com/cobra/dio-creation/tunnel.htm)
I just needed to put my own little twist on it for my needs. Here Tunnel Rat shows what the finish product looks like. The things you need for this are: One shipping tube ( in this case a shrink wrap tube ) An old paint brush dirt bucket and some water. Ok first step is cutting your tube. You always want to measure twice and cut once. Now the cutting. Let's take a second to mention safety. Make sure you are wearing the proper protection when cutting. With the tube I'm using here it's best to use a jig saw or circular saw. Don't use a dremmel. I burns the tube and stinks. And your wife starts to complain about the smell. After cutting the next step is mixing the dirt and water. Thus making mud. Which is the look we are going for. |

Now when doing your mix try to use as little water as possible. What you want is really thick mud.
The next step is just to paint it on. I mean lets face it dirt is free just go outside and get some. Also if you end up with small rocks or sticks leave them in the mix it will give you tunnel more life. Then just "paint it" (more like slap it on) You're going to do at least three coats because your first coat will soak in to the cardboard. Your end result after the mud drys will give you a very natural look. Which after all is what we're are after. |
