As my work on the figures continues I figured I might as well try to update some of my stock 1:18th scale vehicles.
This is a 21st Century Toys (RIP) 1:18th scale M998 HMMWV (Troop Carrier, Hard Top). Its mostly good the way it comes out of the box, but I wanted to change up a few things and weather it a little to go along with my 'dirtyfied' figures. I'm adding an antenna, 'hillbilly' side armor (before they got the new fancy plates the troops in the field would weld their own on), and a few other things here and there. WIP! This is my base HMMWV with some basic weathering. More to come! This is what it looked like before. Be sure to check out the novelization of the 9SFG(A)'s heroism during the War on Terror here: Real American Heroes. You check out my last HMMWV, now finished here: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ons-hmmwv.html

i love this stuff man. i don't understand why there isn't a solid and steady stream of authentic military 1:18 scale figures out there (with this kind of articulation and detail)

It's funny because there was, sort of.. The big 1:18 scale huzzah was in the early 2000's and no one bought it so it fizzled right before the GI Joe 25th line debuted.. It sucks because I bet they could have done better with all the new collectors joining the market.
Hopefully we'll see stuff from BBI again.. I'd love to see how well Target is moving the Bravo Team stuff.

Last I heard, bbi had been through some major revamping, and had geared up to start releasing several different lines before getting back into the Elite Force stuff, but nothing really happened after that. It sucks. I loved these and got as much as I could, and even resorted to some of the lesser quality Power Team Elite stuff since it wasn't too shabby. There's a huge seconday market for this stuff too. So buying these on ebay is costly.
Great work by the way. I've been on and off the site sporadically for a while, but I really enjoy a lot of the stuff you post here and on the Fighting 1:18th. Keep it up!

actually...
bbi collectible it looks like they're still up and running, and looking to reissue a lot of the previously available stuff. all they need is a vendor, i guess.

Very nice work. Looks like it'll fit your figures well. Any chance of seeing the figures with it?
