So for my birthday my wife called from Target and asked which new figure I wanted, and when she said that they had Cobra Commander I said, THAT ONE! because of the Cobra package mostly.
So when I got him home and opened it I liked the new head, but Still wasn't impressed with the body design... I mean looking back on the original concept for Cobra Commander it's just not true enough to my idea of what Cobra Commander should be. My first problem was mostly with the trench coat. To me a trench coat doesn't say megalomaniac leader of an international terrorist group. Instead it says "I don't want to be noticed, i'm hiding in the shadows and I answer to nobody, and have no accomplices or associates." Also, the helmet, while cool on it's own, needs something else to make it say Cobra Commander... it needs a hood! So I found a clone trooper helmet that belonged to an Obi-Wan Kenobi figure, cut out the face in a way that was somewhat cobra commander (is that a word?) and that is my offering as my "Ultimate Cobra Commander" There are 2 versions here, of course the head is POC CC, and the helmet is from a Clone Wars Obi-Wan The main body is IG Destro, and the legs are POC CC. The alternate is Resolute CC's body, with IG Destro's head (the paint matches remarkably well! ) I also had a blue version, before I painted the helmet, using an old batman super-powers cape on Wraith's armor and some other cannibalized parts. Would love to hear your feedback on this! az! |

Don't care for it. I do like the new Cobra Commander from the newer comics, though. I also like some of the customs of the character that I've seen here on the tank.

I think it works fine for a new character. I dunno who so he is POC Cobra COmmander for now until we get a redux of him in an awesome new uniform that honors his legacy like the way Resolute tried..but given they are departing as much as they can to reboot all of GI JOE for the next generation I doubt well see him in a Cowl much less anything then a fishbowl from now on...or much worse...
This one is still suprior to the ROC one though...hands down.. |

I understand what youre trying to do, and I love a majority of it. But when I saw the staff and the head (face & helmet) I saw more skeletor than CC. And its the Eyes of the mask thats doing it.
That bit of analysis said, I loved what you did.

I feel the same about it. However, I think the new design that IDW is using (that was first introduced in GI JOE: Cobra) is a good updated design. We need a figure of this before Pursuit of Cobra ends. Ya listenin' Hasbro?

the resolute CC was the best version IMO. The 25th anniversary ones weren't very good, except the battle armour CC and the one that came with the Mass device with the chrome mask and the better proportioned head.
The ROC CC's are garbage.... Hasbro should be ashamed of that one... |

Sorry, just not sold on it. I like using the IG Destro body, but dump the clone trooper helmet.

Actually I half like and half hate this design. First the face mask is an improvement over the ROC version, but it still just isn't CC to me. Pants are fine, but what the #&%$ is with the loafers? The chest armor I actually like and it looks better in red, but the CC1 logo reeks of stupidity.
And now for the biggest topic of discussion with this version of the Commander - the coat. To me coats are to modern day terrorist/criminal/para-military leaders what capes are to Sith Lords. The guy wearing the black leather trench-coat is the guy in charge. The problem here is Hasbro gave CC, a shi!!y coat. They would have been better off just using the same coat they made for the MU Blade figure. But then again typical Hasbro, one step forward, two steps back. What CC, with a good coat, should have looked like . . . |

I disagree on the CC1 thing on his chest, that had a huge purpose as his mini-hiss that this version did not come with it has it on there too. some meaning we will again never get to know now... |
