hm Not a bad looking build up. However I too agree with AA. The turret does seem a bit overly large for a light water craft such as the 'moccy. Though if a forward firing would be used, I don't see the kick back , rocking the craft so much that it would end up in a turn over. Copperhead wouldn't like that very much I'm sure! Overall, great lookin' fantasy custom

yeah bro this is a stern refab moray mount, sorry. thats too much ass for such a light craft, maybe a mk19 auto grenade launcher or m2 50 cal and a single fire tow system (maybe pushn but maybe rig it with a half stack of wolverine style rockets) thats about the most your gonna get/want topside on a moccassin. BEAUTIFUL work though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angry.Android, Shipwreck, Viper6:
Thanks for the compliments. That said consider the following: There are not many G.I.Joe or COBRA vehicles that could be considered realistic or even perhaps structurally sound. Most are completely outlandish, but it doesn't matter as they are toys. Now on that premise, I cannot believe that I am under the microscope for lack of realistic application of armaments, etc. Consider this, the spec sheet for the WM reports that the rather large control vanes for the fan are made of TITANIUM, a rather strong yet light metal. The SR-71 is constructed of it, and look how fast it is. Now, if COBRA's coffers are so deep that they can afford to make a pair of control vanes out of titanium(X total WM production), why not just build a turret structure from both titanium and other light metal and composites(especially considering this would just be a limited production variant)? Further, it is not done yet. I will be adding pontoons to the side for stability, and they will look good. Lastly I got into this specifically to get away from nitpicking, specifically my own nitpicking. I am an automotive modeler by profession; I am a professional prototyper. I don't build model kits, I design and create model kits. So if it's realism you must have then check these out. Whipple Industries Twin Screw Compressors, in progress. I built four, because I don't believe in resin casting. They are 1/25. !/25 Fuel injectors. Fives pieces each, five hours to construct. 1/25 Hardware set for Pro-mod wheelie bar. 1/25 ProStreet '68 'Vette, everything fabricated except body shell, please note however the rear wheel wells have been widened. So, can anyone see how I might be burnt out on absolute realism? CAN I HAVE SOME FUN NOW? Further still: This would be the exact sort of comments I would expect on FineScaleModeler.com's forum in the Armor section. They would basically read like, "Oh look at this guy, he's got some skills, but doesn't know the first thing about weaponry."(read veiled insult) This would be from guys building museum quality replicas, and I would expect it from them, because it would be in context. There I would deserve it, because something so outlandish as this would be completely out of place. Last edited by freakintiger; 06-24-2010 at 12:58 PM.. |

Dude, just enjoy. You're doing GREAT and GI Joe is a military fantasy.
Grand Slam's legs would have third degree burns, Roadblock's arms would shatter...don't even get me started on Rock 'N' Roll V2. This shit is all ludicrous. But it's also totally awesome and FUN. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching your projects and I can't wait to see them all completed. But don't put a chameleon man in the gunner seat... because that would just be crazy. |

If I wanted realism, I'd buy those 1:18 replica tanks and planes that keep the shelves warm between the Joes and the Transformers at Target.
I want Weather Dominators. MASS Devices. HISS tanks. More of this. It's awesome. |
