So, I finally broke down and bought the Playmobil Jumbo Jet. Let me preface this whole project by saying that I LOVE Playmobil. Ever since my parents bought me the Pirate ship with the smiling crew and the choking hazard tiny cannonballs. This jet, to me, seems like an outstanding entry to the product line, which is saying a lot because Playmobil is a ridiculously high end toy. This jet is actually fairly close to scale. The little buggers are shorter than advertised at 2.9 inches (either that or Joe is taller than advertised 4 inches).
With Ace as my guide, we explore the scale of the jet. With some slight cockpit modification, I think Ace (or anyone else), would slide in nicely. Now, standing up in the jet is not gonna happen, so I guess the AWACS idea might be tough, but I think the KC-135 might be attainable. Continued...

Also, the Jumbo Jet, while not overwhelming in size over her "smaller" fight jet brethren, it's big enough in my Joe-scale mind to justify it's size. Remember, making it actually 1/18th scale or 1/32th scale would require a bigger commitment and a bigger house (7.5 ft long and 4.25 ft long, respectively).
I'm happy with it. The gear issue might bother me for a while, since the way you retract the gear is to pull it off. But maybe I can live with that. The hard part will be the boom. I can imagine all the cutting and gluing I'll have to do there. Now, these updates will be sporadic since I'm trying to finish the carrier, but consider this project IN THE HOPPER.

Thanks for showing that. I think many customizers have looked at the jet with the same idea, so it is good to finally get some sense of scale for it.

I decided to put a majority of the Jumbo Jet together just so I could show a little better scale of size.

Hey Zoomie, Great idea, I was thinking the same thing just last night. I used to date a great young lady that flew KC-135s for the USAF. I think the plane would be perfect. A nice primer coat and she should look practically perfect once you add the boom accessory. Hey, hang it for in-flight refueling, that would kick ass. Great job as always Zoomie. I hear you on the Playmobil. We actually have a PLAYMOBIL store here in NJ, the new ocean vessel looks like it has alot of possibilities as well as the smaller black corporate jet for DESTRO/M.A.R.S. or CC's personal jet. Too bad they dont have a nice C-130 for us to have, I would love a few of those.

Have you tried the old ARAH figures, it would still be tight but maybe not as bad. I actually bought the same jet and the smaller jet for my girls, you can actually reverse the angle on the wings by simply turning it around. I made the corporate jet look very X-30 family. Gives the jet a whole new futuristic feel. I didnt even think about an AWACS job. Wonder if you can just make a bigger center fuselage and then cannibilize parts, you know, use some big 6 inch pvc tubing...hmmmm,...now the cogs are turning..... I was thinking of making a C-130 fuselage with the big cardboard like tubes that they use for pouring concrete, just not sure how to build up the front end, but man that would look sick, as well as f---ing huge. As always Zoomie, you inspire.

Cut out the firewall thing so the feet go to the nose then move the seat back is what I would do to start off.
