The Click N Play F/A-18 arrived today.
The aircraft is made of harder more brittle plastic than the AH-1. Of the aircraft that I have been working on the Fortnite Choppa and Lightyear Xl-15 have both had the better feeling quality. The Hornet is held together by screws. The cockpit tub is mounted in the fuselage by two screws the rest of the cockpit components i.e. controls, panels and seats just clip in. Nothing on my release is glued. Duke just barely fit but Lady Jaye with Captain Marvels leather jacket fits great with room for the cockpit components. Just slightly moved from the original positions. The landing gear are incredibly ugly. It would be easy to remove the gear and cut a hole in the cockpit floor. That would probably make this a true two seater. The Wizzo is missing her legs and everything except for the rear glare shield has been returned. Guess that makes this a 1.5 seater. This wont be displayed gear down so I think 1.5 it is. That second Lady Jaye is left over Fodder anyway.

The pylons for the wing stores were easily removed. One just popped off, two popped out after running my finger nail in the seam and the last one had the most glue. I used a plastic wedge made from an old parts tree to get it out. It come with more wing stores than mounting points, 2x AIM 9s, 2x AGM 88 (?)s, 4x Mark 84(?) Bombs and 2x 330 Gallon Tanks. I made a pylon for under the fuselage and can now mount a center-tank. Might try mounting the two horizontal ejector racks and have the four bombs on the center and both tanks under the wings.

When I was a kid, my brother really got into the model airplanes. This reminds me of watching him and having planes hanging from the ceiling anround our room. I respect your creative drive and also the additional effort of sharing your process. Finding suitable vehicles for Classified figures at reasonable cost seems a big effort. It will be interesting to see your fleet altogether when you have them all done up.

I've been circling buying the FA18 for my ME figs for YEARS now and keep saying no, especially because I've got three Skystrikers now that I don't / can't display.
The issues with the weak wings always terrified me, really. |

Based on the reviews, I was worried about the flooding wings also. I have already removed them a few times for painting. Thankfully the one time I folded them there wasn't any binding. Quote:

I was on the fence for the longest time about getting the CnP F-18 and was worried when it recently sold out. Seems Top Gun Maverick fans want to get this. I hope that interest spills over to the Skystriker/F-14 so we can get more big jets. I really miss 21st Century Toys.

With minor trimming all the original pieces fit back in the cockpit tub to include the rear glare shield, still minus the rear flight controls that I stole to use on my Dragonfly. Got an additional 3mm's by notching the back seat and slightly reclining it. All the cockpit parts are clicked in place with new locking holes. The plastic that was removed from the back of the ejector seat rails was used to make the frame for the HUD. The clear plastic was from the window packaging for a new pair of glasses. The superglue fogged up the "glass" panels on the HUD. Might try to polish it with a Q-tip and some toothpaste. Made two little washers, cockpit leftovers again, to increase the stand off and hopefully reinforce the mounting screws for the center-line pylon. Trimmed the center-line pylon to conform to the contour of the belly. Tired the four bombs on two racks and it doesn't look right so staying with the fuel tank. The landing gear still look ugly as sin but they are just enough to keep the tank off the ground. I think the tank draws your attention away from the gear. Tried reversing the gear to make it look more like the real aircraft but then the doors wouldn't close properly. Best solution would be parts swap-able gear that would lock into the existing bay but I don't think I will be going that far.

I think you're too harsh on the gear - I know it's not accurate, but they're not THAT bad in your pictures.
