If you're going to all the trouble of removing side guns, etc, I'd just base it on one of the four Iowa Class battleships, which were built during WW2, but were in service off and on until the early 90s. They got brought back for the final time in the 1980s, so they'd be period accurate to most GI Joe stuff. Plus there's a lot of books about them, and the Battleship New Jersey has a great YouTube channel, so you would have plenty of reference material to work from.
Beware, though, there are some differences between the four ships, most notable being a different bow on the Wisconsin. Here's the channels for New Jersey, Iowa and Missouri (For some reason the link won't work on the Iowa's channel, so I just linked one of their videos). https://www.youtube.com/@BattleshipNewJersey https://www.youtube.com/@BattleshipM...orial63/videos Alternatively, you could do the USS Montana from the cartoon episode "Sink the Montana", a battleship that had actually been planned to be built in the later years of WW2. Unlike in the world of GI Joe, in real life the end of the war meant that it was never built. Last edited by SnowCat; 04-23-2023 at 09:08 PM.. |
