Things I can?t do right yet?
-Putting pins back in joints, let alone keep any paint on them when trying. -clear coating at the end, doesn?t seem to work very well -keeping paint on the hidden parts of joints, seems near impossible, afraid to take off too much plastic. I think those 3 are the big ones?feel free to offer suggestions or ask to see additional photos or about materials used. Ask a question or recommend improvements about any figure. Please. I gotta a lot more pics and stuff but I?m not a photographer nor a customized until this summer or fall. It?s a fun, challenging hobby. How did slice and the other dudes get so ridiculously good at this stuff? Natural artistic talent? years of experience? Both? -The other things I haven?t tried are priming in an airbrush, airbrushing itself, and doing a wash at the end. Washing comes before clear coating right? Thx Last edited by Tracksem; 12-24-2022 at 01:20 AM.. |

Thanks man. Some are better than others. Like zap is a really rough draft inspired by gridirons use of flint. Flints beard , and colors are a little over the top. Simpler is better, for me. Storm shadow was originally gonna be quick kick but I started with him using a black sharpie and lol, messed up his joints trying to get that crap off. So I got another Shang chi coming via eBay. Dudes left hip was impossible to reattach. It’s superglued and will become a battle damaged storm shadow maybe.

Don’t even paint the pins until you have put together the parts. I use watered down mod podge as a final coat and then run a heat gun over it for a few seconds as it has dried. You’re never going to get factory strength paint applications, you’re just trying to have the paint hold up to the wear of posing. I sand down the front of the knees, back of the elbows, neck, boots, shoulders and hands. Not much has to be taken off to give those pieces clearance for the painted parts to move without chipping.

But I am breaking a few pins at the final push. I?ve been using my thumb and a small punch or screwdriver on the other side after heating up the pins and the joints. Not very good lol. Hand wear is bad when I try to put their guns back into their hands. I bet guys are heating them up a little because their hands are rigid as F. Thanks a ton, and Merry Xmas bro Last edited by Tracksem; 12-26-2022 at 02:56 PM.. |

Hey folks. Sorry for bumping the old thread. Need your advice on using mod podge on fabric.
