I don't know why I only recently though to see if people had done customs for a modern Metalhead and I was inspired by what I saw. So decided to give it a shot.
I initually wanted to only use parts that were initially made for Cobra characters. But the Gen. HAWK thighs used in Toothbrush's custom were just too perfect for the overall design. I'm still trying to work out the weapons, but for now I just wanted to the body sorted out. Layout of parts Trimming thighs and shoulders. I skipped the first primer step because i forgot to take pics. I should have trimmed before I primered the parts, but I was too excited to paint. That said, I'm disappointed in the Army Painter black primer. I should have just used my air brush. Touch up primer and basecoat. Additional coats |

Thanks guys! I've been having a really tough time getting my primer coat to stick to the arms. So I've been stripping and re-cleaning and re-priming for weeks. And I've been giving the primer days to cure, which has been delaying progress. On top of that, I've been working on the missile backpack. But my approach, which I'm not sure is so smart, has been to make resin copies of the parts that I'm going to bash together, then once I glue it all together, make a casting out of that. And it's really taken forever especially since I ran out of silicone.

Trying out different patterns, but also trying to figure where the paint rub is still happening. The ball joint is going to be cast into the thigh to add articulation to the leg mounted launchers.

Decided to adjust the color palette. Not sure if there's a big lack of contrast, but seems to go with the webgear. I wanna find a Desert eagle for him and some color to the display screen on his wrist co trolley panel. Still working on the design for his rocket launchers.
If anyone knows to print gold Waterslide decals, id I have some questions. Last edited by Chucez; 08-02-2022 at 02:29 AM.. |

That’s a badass Metal Head! Really fun to see the individual steps as well. You did an amazing job on the head and then loving the build you chose for him.

Update:
3 moves in one year plus the addition of one more baby really put a pause on things. I think im happy with the power conduits, but i Still need to work on the missile launcher greeble, then recast it to make a solid piece. |
