Hey all! The Crimson Guard Immortal is probably one of my most favorite figures ever. I got my very first and only one in 1991 - and I've had it ever since. I didn't know until this past year that there was a special European version, which I would like to own one day, but I really can't afford it. I'd like to thank @HissHissFangFan for sharing his work and his suppliers, because those really inspired me to have a go at my first GI joe custom in my adult life - the Rock Viper Crimson Guard Immortal.
I have a before shots of the head. [I have an after shot of the head. Primer coat - Vallejo Gloss Black. Base coat - Citadel Mephiston Red 70%/Chaos Black 30% Additional coats - Mephiston Red 60% / Vallejo Flat red 40% I'm planning to strip down the head again and sand everything smooth. it was just too rough. I may try to make a casting of the o-ring rock viper head and convert it into a removable helmet and use a masked head underneath. I'm not sure if I want to keep the MTF body. It's all in up in the air and I'm open to ideas. Thanks for looking Last edited by Chucez; 08-14-2021 at 09:26 AM.. |

Right on sir!
I like where you’re going with blending two of the best cobra figures ever. Also that it builds on the two troopers. The MTF body works well. Maybe accessorize it and you’ll like it more. You could use parts from the Retaliation crimson Guard in the modern era rock viper figures, if the parts mesh ok, if you decide to drop the MTF body.

The main thing I'm concerned about is sanding down the joints to prevent paint rub (if i have to repaint the body). |

I love what you did wish there was a 6 inch head version. Great work!

Round 2:
Side by side comparison with the original CGI. I'm doing this to see what elements of the original I'd like to capture with this version. At first I thought about using the POC alley viper legs and arms, but it was the Alley Viper body is a little too short. So I went with the Crimson Horseman and I tried to use the alley viper hams/thighs with the Horseman shins, but it didn't work. I didn't wanna shave material off any of the parts, unless i was ready to commit, even though I really like the Alley Viper Thigh design. Since the CGI is supposed to be a super solider, I'll stick with the Horseman body since it looks much more imposing than the FSS CGI Body. Comparison using Crimson Horseman Body: Next steps: Paint shoulder pads and shin armor with Vallejo Steel or Citadel Leadbelcher Paint the legs/pantaloons flat red Paint boots and leg web gear black I'm planning to see how he looks using Black Out's/Resolute Zartan's armor and V34 Snake Eye's forearms. Or I may apply some panel lining to a HISS Driver's armor and use that. Until I am able to find more scrap parts for cheap, this is it for now. |

The new armor came in today and I was hoping for a definitive answer. However, I'm still not sure... The torso still seems a little bit too long or wide. The firefly vest looks to be the better match. What do you all think?

Thank you very much! I'm that the end result will turn out well.
I decided that i wanted to see how he would look with a covered mouth, and with a removable helmet. So I made my very first attempt at making a mold using oyumaru reusable mold material, and some green stuff. The way I filled out the mold was pretty awful but this is what I ended up with after trying to recreate a ARAH rock viper helmet sans face. I took me about 2 hours of sanding and filling with liquid green stuff. After this I'm going to try to make a silicone mold that I can enlarge to fit the POC Firefly head, and we'll see how that goes. For some reason the image tag isn't working.
