Here is the above work after paint:
Here he is with a 25th Bandolier: I didn't fill in the bottom seam as I wanted to preserve the swivel waist articulation. I haven't decided if I should paint the molded belt below the swivel. What do you all think? Should I paint the molded belt brown? Should I add a belt to cover the swivel seam? Should I leave it as is? I kind of like it how it is, but I would like to know your thoughts. Thanks.

That blending looks excellent. Nicely done. I do think he needs a belt though. I think painting the mold or adding one works either way

If you are set on using that torso, this is what I would recommend as well. Also, I might suggest a wash in a slightly darker tan on the shirt to bring out some of the details of the pockets and wrinkles on the shirt.
Duke is one of those characters where I do not think there has been a satisfactory modern update. I realize that Hasbro is not necessarily going for an exact replica of the original design (although I think that's what most fans/collectors want), but I think Duke is one of those key characters where they need to focus on a sculpt that is closer to the original. How hard would be for them to sculpt a torso with a double collar and a couple of big pockets on the front? Jason |
