Hi folks. I am taking a break from epoxy fumes from the RC warthog waterproofing project. epoxy and water splashing only during well ventilated w.e.
here's an old project I quickly mocked up: RC conversion for Mobat. Same method as my maulers. As much as I like the cool mobat toy AS IS, an RC conversion faithful to the Mbt70 performance is deserved: https://youtu.be/WCrZL4_ZTX0?t=133 https://youtu.be/zDgUJ7xwwbE ditch the heavy batteries, increase the voltage from 3V to 7.4V, compact twin gearbox... i cut the lower hull to increase ground clearance. raising it by about half an inch. will reshape the glacis. mobat early prototype looked better imho. mauler style road wheels , mauler/warthog single station suspension with long travel developed previously. tracks TBD. likely some wide, good lookin', behind haulin' specs. but then I held the Mobat hull higher... what if it was an infantry carrying tank? like the Achzarit? ( T55 Based APC )... 5 roadwheels each side... mmh? forget the turret & big gun, how about a bunch of joes in there? rear entrance ramp. maybe large upper hatches, mortar inside Like M113? small turret of weapon station... 2 hatches up front. ? and lastly, how about a dang good RC bridgelayer? (I know, it's facing the wrong way) just wanted to share these ideas backed up with these mock-ups.

Wow very cool ideas. A general purpose APC would be great but an RC bridgelayer would just be too fun. Love the quick mockups to test your ideas.

I don't know about the APC. Do you think there is enough space to seat figures in there?
I'd say chopping the lower hull for ground clearance and going with it as a traditional tank would work better, but I've been proven wrong before. That RC bridge layer is a total must, though. I'm anxiously waiting to see how that one comes along.

I'm anxiously waiting to see how that one comes along. 3 different vehicles here. a taller APC, which has issues a straight conversion RC mobat, and ... the bridgelayer while it is far far back in my priorities, I get a lot of push for the bridgelayer. I think I have some solutions to make the bridge RC in a simple manner. I have gearboxes coming in, electronics... need some time to make some good OD wheels prints and assemble stations. then can start crackin' at it. if we take the original bridgelayer style in the mobat hull, with figs sticking out from upper torso... that would make things simple. figs legs would rest where the big D cells were. mobat is a really cool toy. am not sure making it RC adds much to it as it did to the mauler. only one way to find out. |
