This Scarlett was edging towards coming together together when the recent custom contest was announced. I've had some questions on how she was made. So I thought I'd share them here. Motivation for this Scarlett: MTF parts or HACKS parts alone just didn't cut it for the Scarlett look I wanted, but could they be combined?
The base head is the Penthesilea sculpt from a Boss Fight blank. The shaggy straight bangs needed to go. The original plan was to have no bangs: This sculpt has a very intense gaze, probably should be painted with sclera showing above the irises to properly capture the intensity in the eyes, but I didn't go that way. Another big thing to do was combine the MTF T-shirt torso and the HACKS blank abdomen. I wrapped a HACKS blank torso in cellophane, and mashed greenstuff around it. When it dried, I cut the greenstuff in two parts, into a front and back, and carved around the bottom of it until it was a useful guide for cutting the T-shirt torso down. Stuck the Tshirt into this form, and marked where the cuts should be made. I had to insert the HACKS joint into the MTF T-shirt torso that I had cut down so they would fit together, and I like how it came out: I almost went with full MTF arms, but chose HACKS. In the end, the forearms, upper torso, and lower arms were from MTF, the rest a HACKS blank: Painted up: In the end, the no-bangs look wasn't right. MTF bangs to the rescue, sliced very thin and glued in place: |

Wow. You're paint job on that Penesthelia head is absolutely killer, because I hate that head, in general- but your finished product is among my favorite Scarlett heads that I've seen.
Stellar work.

Thanks Ax, that means a lot. The perfect look for Scarlett is still out there somewhere.

Bangs from which MTF figure?
Excellent work on the torso fit—speaks to your work that I really didn’t notice earlier! I also agree with that head paint job. Eyes intimidate me, and you knocked it out of the park. *I’m glad you are making a custom thread for all of your work. It’s the way to go.

As for the MTF head, it was the Athena with short hair: Here are the bangs before they were fully fitted and glued. A wispier look would've been nice, but to attach it well, I had to make it more flush: |

Now something a little more fun and unexpected was this impromptu technique for making throwing stars. I made a small box, poured hot glue in it, then rammed a star-head screwdriver bit into it. Once it cooled, I cut off the end so it was open on both sides and pushed green stuff through. After that set, I chopped it up and chose the best shapes:
I realize that MTF makes throwing stars, and bought them for this purpose, but I thought they were a bit big and easy to knock off the arm. |

Awesome write-up, ARBCO. Thanks for sharing details on how you did the creative touches like the hair and the throwing stars.
One interesting side effect of using a hex-bit driver head for the shape of the throwing stars is that the six-point nature of it in silver against a tan/khaki background reminds of a sheriff's badge pinned atop natural leather, adding a slight Western feel to her character, which thematically implies an air of toughness and fortitude. Dunno if that was intentional but it's really cool. |

Out fucking standing!
The amount of work you put into this is off the charts. The sculpting is great, the freckles are a brilliant touch, and you nailed the iconic look. Super impressive work man!
