As a child I loved playing with figures and playsets made by the British company Airfix. One of them was the Fort Sahara with Arabs and French foreign legionnaires. The Airfix toys were of poor quality but cheap and that counted. As I am at home now due to the Coronavirus epidemic, I started to build Fort Sahara at scale 1:18. The project is still in progress. Besides painting and putting stairways and doors, a lot of adjustments are still to be made. The Fort is 120 cm wide and 75 cm deep. The tower has a height of ca. 60 cm while the walls are 28 cm tall. I do not have figures of foreign legion soldiers and therefore I will use some Chap Mei figures which look a little bit like a kind of colonial soldiers. The time line will be the early 1950s.
