This looks amazing! What's the plan for those little ramrod hanger thingies on the bottom? Like will it be bent wire pieces you add later or do some 3d printers now have the ability to print tiny detail stuff like that and it not be fragile?

I'm not sure yet. Those implement hooks and the d-rings are going to be really thin at 1:18 scale (1/36th inch to be exact) so I think I would need to beef them up even for a resin printer (if I actually had one, which I don't). My filament printer could technically print them the way they are, but just barely. My nozzle width is 0.4mm so I could maybe squeeze in a second row of width (0.4mm is about 55% of the width/thickness of these hooks). I could print them, but I would probably destroy them while removing them from the print bed.
At this point, I'm leaning toward these options: I bought a few sizes of tiny chains to use for other parts that need actual chain, so I'm not averse to adding metal hooks where I need them. I just want to balance strength with beauty as much as I can so it's going to take some trial and error to see what method ends up working best...or at all. I'm still patiently waiting for someone to gift me a large shed with a CNC and injection molding setup along with a ton of metal stock and ABS pellets. Aaaany day now...

The sponge bucket is complete! Now it's down to just a few side hooks and an ammo box correction.

By request, I modified my vintage-compatible intake fans to work in the modern-era Skystriker:

Cannon and limber test prints, latest version:
Still plenty of print adjustment work to do, but not a bad start even if I do say so myself.

It looks fantastic Zap. Have you ever seen the gun runs with those cannon field units? Its performed by teams in the Royal Navy and is awesome. Your model would be a great diorama for that

Zap, longtime follower, and I've bought some of your torso adapters in the past. I recently bought a Photon Mono X after debating for a year or so on the whole thing. I'm excited for it to get here and start some 3d printing of upgrades (I really want to create some weapons upgrades for my custom decepticon skystrikers). Do you use a 3d scanner to get a base item and then clean it up or do you use a caliper to measure and then create the file yourself?

For my reproduction parts and my upgrade/custom vehicle parts I hand measure with a cheapo Harbor Freight ("Pittsburgh" model 92437) 6" dial fractional caliper and model it up manually. I have a small (also cheapo) woodworking protractor that I sometimes use to measure angles. I also have a metric caliper that I bought later on but I almost never use it. That's about the extent of my toolkit. I model entirely in Blender 3d and I just use the base Blender unit as if it were an inch, then scale in my slicer by a factor of 2,540 to get it into mm for slicing. I haven't ever had my hands on a 3d scanner personally. CaliViper was kind enough to send some scan files of some organically shaped items (figure parts) to me that are just out of my skill set to model so far, but I've only used those to "boolean" the figure's shape out from the accessories I have modeled. That's how I was able to get such a nice fit on the ODST armor I made: I'm not sure I ever could have made such a nice fit on the chest piece without CaliViper's scan to help me on that one. And I plan to attempt to model some horse harnesses for wagon/carriage trail gear if I can make that work with another scan he gave to me a while back. CaliViper also sent partial scans of the modern-era Skystriker cockpit and canopy to me and I used those to feel out where (and how) to fit a 2-seater interior into that plane. So there's definitely a place for that type of thing if you can get your hands on a scanner. But in terms of actually using 3d scans for the direct creation of repro parts, no. I've never done that. The scans are very very nice to have for non-geometric shapes and the like, but the mesh geometry tends to be very messy and very, very dense (lots and lots of vertices and faces) which makes it hard to work with. There also tends to be irregular surface smoothness on the models that can be difficult to resolve, not to mention holes where it couldn't "see" the object and globs/flat spots where the object was sitting or being held during the scan. In other words, a scanner is not a total magic bullet as far as I know. You will still need to do some cleanup as you mentioned, and sometimes quite a lot of it. If you have a knack for remeshing the scans I imagine it would be a lifesaver to have that ability rather than measuring by hand and modeling piece by piece. To drag the answer out a little further to hopefully give you some useful strategies, when I am cooking up a custom piece to go on an existing retail vehicle, I will typically do one of two things:
