Thanks guys.
Still just two positions for the knob: gear up, gear down. The wing position is now controlled entirely separately just by hand and not by the position of the control knob. Move one wing and the other one follows and they stay wherever you let go. Full sweep, full spread, or anything in between...regardless of gear position. I had a dual knob setup earlier on where they were side by side and one controlled the wings while the other controlled the gear but this was simpler and sturdier.

"Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter."
Seriously tho, does this work on the newer skystrikers, like the SDCC Jetfire or Starscream? I also want to get your BFS/MTF adapters, is that only thru shapeways, or can I cut out the middleman and buy direct from you?

So at this time, the BFS/MTF adapters are only available through Shapeways.

I wanted to add in a picture of one of Zap's 3D printed Skystriker intakes that I added to my Skystriker. Mine was due for a full sticker replacement, so this was the ideal time to do it since you do have to take apart the Skystriker in order to install these. The gaping holes where the intakes should be always bugged me and this was a great opportunity to fix it.
It should be noted that I painted the pair I received from Zap, but the color he printed them in is pretty close. His print was really nice and clean, and looks great. Thanks Zap! |

I posted these in another thread, but I think they need to come home to this thread. Rough WIP 2-seater cockpit piece for the ME Skystriker:

Thanks, still feeling out the contours a bit. It looks like I might be able to add at least a little instrument panel for the pilot. Maybe also some of the controls along the sides if I can get the wall contours mated up nicely. So far I'm pretty well matched on the floor panel and good front to back, but that's it. A test fit piece with seats attached is on the printer right now, then I have some sets of vintage Skystriker wing/gear mechanisms to print for a few days before I'll be able to revisit this. The seats still need a lot of detail work but I don't want to tackle that until I know how they will sit in the cockpit so test prints and adjustments are a big part of things right now.
This is one project I've been wanting to get off my plate for a long time. I'm finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
