Zap,
Have you thought about making custom pieces for the HISS? I'm not sure if you have an Arctic HISS, but it has some very cool features that would be nice on the standard HISS, but are very expensive to buy for customizing. I was lucky enough a few years ago to grab an Arctic HISS for like $50 off Amazon. Now, I see them everywhere for around $146. Anyway, a few features that stand out to me on the HISS are (1) of course the Stinger missle rack (2) the weapons/gear rack that hangs on the back of the vehicle and (3) the plastic headlight insert. I have also seen some custom weapons on eBay pop up from time to time. Anyway, I am also watching your custom builds on the Skystriker with a lot of interest. If you can make that 2-seater cockpit and the wing/landing gear mech work on the modern Skystriker then count me in! Jason |

Jason As for the modern-era Skystriker wing sweep mechanism, I'm not sure that's on the horizon at all. I would need to gain access to the interior which seems like a destructive process on the ME version due to the glue (or sonic welding or whatever they used). If there is a reliable way to open up the body of the modern Skystrikers without damaging them, then please let me know. I would very much like to adapt my solution to that plane as well, but I don't have modern Skystrikers to spare (or, more accurately, to sacrifice) and people aren't likely to be as enthusiastic about doing the update if they risk breaking their plane in the process. Alternatively, if someone has a ME Skystriker they have already opened (damaged or not) that still has complete and functional inner workings that they are willing to either donate or loan to me for the project that's something I would be willing to work on. I'm just not prepared to bust my own plane. The two-seater cockpit looks like a very promising possibility, though. I need to get back around to modeling a floor plate that fits the available space and then build up the interior from there. Now that I have my own printer, it's just a matter of time until I either have a working interior or I discover that there is no good way to fit one into the available space. CaliViper, if you're up for one more scan...having a fairly low-res scan of the canopy and the insides of the separate cockpit shell halves from a ME Skystriker would speed up a 2-seater interior immensely. Just tossing that out there...

I have the red one from SDCC. Not sure he to get the insides except by taking it apart. Also its a large piece so I have to static scans that aren't the best but let me try it out

3 separate part scans would be best: I do NOT need a scan of the 1-man seat and instrument panel. Just shell interiors and canopy.

I don't happen to own an arctic HISS, so I can't really build reproduction parts for it, unfortunately. This is a common refrain from me, but I just don't have access to most vehicles or rare parts and there isn't much I can do without them. I could model stuff to go in place of the standard turret (including a Stinger missile rack) but it wouldn't match the rest of your turreted tanks unless I can get a copy to work from directly. I'm not familiar with the means by which the luggage rack stuff attaches either. Is it something that can be natively used on the original HISS as well or did they modify the HISS body to make them work?

This may be a good reason to invest in a "beater" vintage Skystriker to customize! Jason |

For the Arctic Hiss, it has a clear headlight piece that fits into the front where you would typically apply a decal. The gear/luggage rack is just a piece that lays on top of the HISS and then hangs down a bit on both sides. Then they have two accessories (rolled canvas & luggage cage) that hang on the rack similar to the accessories that come with the new Armadillo.

Really nice work on the Skystriker turbines! Will those be going up for sale on your Shapeways store when done?
Also, props on the Millenium Falcon dish & base. Tons of those have that piece missing. |

Thanks! I will be selling the Skystriker intakes directly via eBay at the very least. I have to see how they price out on Shapeways, but if I think the price is reasonable enough I will add them to the lineup there as well.
