[QUOTE=Zap Rowsdower;5157792]Cool idea! Would a larger array of monitors be useful? As in, more than 3? Would a piece that allows you to place one set of three above another set of 3 (to make a 3x2 array) be useful?
That would be fantastic. And if you decide to do keyboards or anything like that, I'd not only be appreciative, I'd be a customer for life.

So far, my articulation efforts have made hinges possible, but their assembly requires shaving and shaping things to make them fit, so it would be more like building a scale model in that it would take some care and a very small amount of skill in order to assemble. An un-articulated arm would just be plug-and-play. dbritt, how do you plan to attach the arm to the vehicle? I can make a "peg" on the end of the arm so you can drill a hole in the wall and insert the arm/peg into the hole for mounting. This would be the same size and basic functionality of the Gundam Mechanical Chain Base accessories, if you're familiar. I ultimately want my designs to be able to work with those wherever possible. Or I can make a flat square pad on the end of the arm to be glued onto the wall or ceiling surface instead. Quote:
And showing the back of the tower: I'm still working on these, and the mouse is up next. The keyboard will probably have to be printed in the frosted detail plastic so it doesn't lose the actual shape of the individual keys. Same for the tower, if you want the detailed back end to really pop. A mouse won't have as much fine detail so that will probably work in the standard white nylon material but I will have to have enough other stuff to sprue it with to make it worth ordering. I'd like to do a server rack as well but that one will take some time if I'm being detailed. I just listed a 5-pack of the "basic" individual monitors recently and I am really wanting to get a full "Desktop PC" kit put together so people can just get a 1:18 computer with one simple order. Anyway, I'll bump the PC components up the list a bit since there's interest.

What I would probably do is angle them out so the flat base can simply be glued to the wall or ceiling in the rear compartment of the sprinter. The Bruder walls are pretty thin, so I don't want to do any drilling. And once, they're in, they'll be pretty static, so how they're attached to each other is not super important. I do prefer them to line up, but if you go the more articulated route, I can do that manually.
And those towers and keyboards are choice, my man.

OK, the PC bundle is now complete:
And all packed up on sprues: It's available in the standard white material, but if you order that version you should expect to see some loss of detail. If you want maximum detail the set is also available in the frosted detail plastic and that's probably the best choice if you want these to do any diorama photography with. It's things like this that would have been absolutely PERFECT to use the now-discontinued "black acrylate" on. I hope they bring it back, and soon! I plan to update the model eventually with two alternate mouse versions (a trackball and a simpler "basic" mouse), but for now it just has all three mice as the identical model. I still need to work on the dual-bank monitors and then I think I am going to do a SLR camera (with swappable "lenses" for telephoto and such) next.

I made a bit of progress this evening on the dual-array:
There are two mounting plate options (one flat, one corner) and 4 different mounting arm options (long/short for straight, long/short for zigzag), and the array connects to the arms with a ball socket joint. The mounting arms have pins on the end that should allow use in Gundam "mechanical chain base" sets or you can insert them into one of the mounting plates and connect that plate to a surface by whatever means you dream up. Here are the options (each arm is pictured first with the corner plate, then with the flat plate): Long straight arm: Short straight arm: Long zigzag arm: Short zigzag arm: Here it is all sprued up: With a round pin on one end of the mounting arm and a ball on the other end of the arm, you can position the zigzag arms in any orientation to maximize your mounting options. I have some double-checks to do before I release it, but it's close now.

Thanks! And they're available in Europe...
I posted the doubled-up, wall-mountable monitor array today. The size and material volume of the model made it a bit more expensive than I would have preferred but there isn't much I can do about that. Anyway, the arrays are permanently connected to one another, but the arms ball/socket join the lower middle monitor's rear end. Combined with the peg connector on the other end of the mounting arms, these are 2-PoA setups. The SLR camera and lenses (and tripod? what do you think?) will probably be coming up next...

I got sidetracked with another idea today. Here is a WIP of a podium:
Cobra Commander version: Extensive Enterprises version: I plan to do several versions, including reasonably accurate White House podiums. I'm still working out a printable presidential seal before I bother designing an accurate podium to put it on... I might just make the seal a separate item that can be printed in the frosted detail plastic. If I add a peg on the back and a hole in the podium then I could have any number of possible seals available for installation.

I found a very nice model of a marble bust that I am converting to be printable:
This should end up being approximately "life sized" for 1:18 scale. I just need to double check dimensions before I can claim that with full confidence.
