Hold up! I may be able to use the hips and legs from the Puzzle Airborne figures as a straight swap on the Russians. The peg may be roughly compatible. Will check in a few hours. If so, that would put a well articulated RS at ~$3 a fig (depending on the head). Not terrible, but decently priced over here.

Wow, those Russians are built like cinder poo shacks! They require alot of heat and force to get apart, so much so that I damaged both figures trying to get the hips up in there. The Puzzle hips should work as they are generally the same peg, but there are some subtle differences so delicate modding (above my current skill level is required).

I glued the Russian back together and the other one is just parts anyhow. The Russian is now a paint test dummy. Hehe

Didn’t care for the color or fumes from Tamiya, so switched to what I had. Apple Barrel Admiral Blue with a bit of white. To make it tougher the paint mix was 50% paint, 25% water, 20% gloss medium, 5% Pledge/Future. Touch rub proof and somewhat scratch proof with layers. In the future I will hit the blue with Vallejo matte poly varnish. The Apple Barrel paint is so full of filler it is almost like a colored toothy gesso.
Edit-also rifles need to be painted black. Last edited by Bubbavader; 01-14-2018 at 09:47 PM.. Reason: Bad link |

I like the way you added the blue to make them troopers. Great!
