Well the keel is laid. Cut up some plastic sleds and joined together to form the sides of my planned rigid hull. I intend to give the ship about 5" of freeboard and an approximate hangar deck height of 7" the hull will be divided into 3 sections with blocks and pins holding the "keel" members together. The blocks will later be accessible for removal and disconnection of the "A" "B" and "C" sections.

Looks promising. Is the hangar deck usable space? If I were to do it, I'd modify the stern to be like that of an amphibious assault ship (LHD). That way, you could have a well deck for WHALEs, SHARCs, APCs, Devilfish, Wharthogs, etc. Looking forward to more progress! Carry on!

SCB125, this is amazing.
I may be speaking out of turn, but... I suggest you start a dedicated post in the work in progress. I want to follow your progress closely, without all the other Flagg chat mixed in. |

SCB125 and all - you think we can get the Hasbro Shapeways "SuperFanArt" license for all this great work, allowing all to officially buy and/or sell your great custom Flagg parts; via 3D Printing?

Tuskegee Joe:
Thank you. I'd like to learn more about what you mention. I confess I'm behind the technology curve, so I'm learning/developing techniques as I go. I've never attempet scratch building anything before, with the exception of small improvised parts. For example, I initially went on a EBay buying frenzy which preceded any type of budget that I may have had. Lol. Only until I came on the boards and saw some of the molding/casting projects from other members did I think of alternative parts production other than simply purchasing vintage components at great expense. In short, I don't know much about the advances in 3d printing or much about resin casting either. Those technologies would help me greatly in making items such as Flagg watertight doors (bulkhead doors *) of which I've bought every one on eBay. A simple patterned plate that I'm sure even I could mold duplicate. 3d printing however excites me even more. Please message me and explain more if you could SCB 125 "SCB-125 was the United States Navy designation for a series of upgrades to the Essex class of aircraft carriers conducted between 1954 and 1959. even sure if I belong on this thread in the first place. Lol. I don't want to upset any Flagg purists Hahaha! I am however interested in following Everett Colby's custom painting project closely for myself. That interior looks awesome. It was a big part of the inspiration for me to go ahead with this project .
