Whew! Finally able to post something, been a lil on hiatus lately for various reasons. Anyway, started this at the beginning of my hiatus and at last got around to uploading pics to my comp.
Don't remember how I thought of doing a mech suit, but the first thing I grabbed was the ironman suit I got cheap awhile back. I started taking it apart to see what I could use or do with it and found a neat little easter egg.... If you take out the screw on the back at the top, it reveals what must have originally been meant to be a battery compartment, complete with slots for wires. As soon as I saw that, I was determined to use this as the base of my mech suit, I have enough random metal and springs to make the compartment functional: After gathering some parts to see what I can make work, I started on the "pilot". After showing this, obviously it's going to be a cobra mech. If I can get the head right on the mech itself, I would love it to be a modern interpretation of a SNAKE/Serpent armor. One of the freakiest looking things I've made yet in my opinion: This was my first draft of the pelvis and legs. I wanted this to be very posable and these were the first things I had that I didn't mind cutting apart: Next, I had a junk larger Bumblebee I got at a thrift store. Holy crap does this thing have a lot of pins holding it together. Managed to cut down the balls for the iron man shoulders and drill holes. It was 'ok' but the space between the arm and body drove me nuts, plus there wasn't as much articulation as I wanted: This was after attaching both arms and cutting down one of the legs to make it look less goofy, I did match the other leg but never got a pic of it: And that's part 1. Had so many pics so far, I decided to split this first post into 2.

Ok, post 2:
Pulled out a fodder bin and found the legs I needed: Standing up, but still with the goofy arms: Cut down the pilot a bit and testing to see how he fits with the legs roughly in place: Not sure if I'll use these or not: I admit, heads both for bots and humans are a weakness. Going to try my darndest to get this to somewhat resemble the front of the original snake armor: And then I had an epiphany, I took apart the lower half of that same Bumblebee, took off the feet and figured out the shoulder joints fit almost perfectly where the original ball joints went: Goodbye, you suck: Both attached: Start of trimming them down to make em look more like arms: I'm damn happy with how this is looking now. Time to focus on the head and the pilot:

Ooh, this looks very exciting! And I like that the pilot looks very Borg-like.

Honestly, didn't think about about that. After some more work on this, I'm pretty sure it's going to be my interpretation of the SNAKE/SERPENT Armor.
You and me both! lol. Thanks man!! Been trying to make him look less Borg-esque, we'll see what I can do.

Looks like I forgot a couple pics of the new arms. He's got hands now!!! These were the best/biggest hands I had and I think they'll be ok for the mech's intended purpose.

Can't believe I haven't updated this since November, didn't realize I hadn't worked on this for that long. Got some progress done over the last month, just haven't posted anything til now.
First up, just a comparison shot next to the original: I think I'm happy with the proportions now and how it stands. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to get a base coat of paint on to see how the parts really work together: So, the original torso and head are from the "Stark Tech Assault Armor IM Mark VI" from the 1st Avengers movie. Pried the faceplate off and cut into it and came up with this. At first it bothered me, looking silly, but then I thought, with modern technology, you could fit a whole suite of sensors, cameras and instruments in that lil head: My first attempt at giving an homage to the original. The white tube I used on the right wouldn't adhere to any glue so I went another route seen in the 2nd pic: Added the front skirt pieces from a gundam, will try using the side skirts as well: And here's where I'm excited, got the unused yet factory battery compartment wired. Only need 3volts so I just used a bigger spring: Used some black tubing for the wires to clean it up and be seen. Also you can see 1 side skirt I'm testing. Not sure if I want to cut the ball joint off the original gundam so am trying other options, currently using a small screw: Forgot to get a picture of the tiny LED in the head, will try to post one with the next update, here it is being tested: Somehow, I found the resistor I was looking for in under 5 minutes, a record for me, here's the 2nd light since there should be enough room. Will probably reposition the green light a lil higher and more forward to illuminate the front of the figure enough, while still lighting up the eye: And last for now, wanted to start on the body work, to make it look as little like the IM fig as possible:
