I'm experimenting with different painting techniques, being relatively new to customizing, and I came up with this kind of by accident. I was going to paint the CP Wild Willie's suit all black and make him a Dreadnok, but then decided against it, since I got the SRO version which is now my default. So I used some fine (150) grit sandpaper and started removing the paint, and this is the result. Not sure where to go from here, but I think he's got a very comic book "inked" sort of look, which I dig. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

he does in fact look VERY comic-booky...sorta like the NECA TMNTs...the bright color also helps give off the comic style...cool accident

I was thinking this exactly! Very cool effect. Probably would work well with a lot of the brighter colored figures (*ding! finally a use for CP Duke and CC!)

It looks real good. I wish the black was flat tho. That's the one thing that throws off the effect of most washes to me - glossy shadows.

I painted the vest black and did some gray detailing on it, looks better than the SRO black vest with its crappy brown. I'm also considering doing O-Face Duke's jetpack and harness, the metallic blue works with the blue of the figure. I'll have to do a wash on the harness at least to match. Thanks for the feedback so far guys, and I'm glad you dig it. |
